On Friday 25 September at 7:00pm, join us for The Malmesbury Witch Trials — a fascinating guided walk through the streets where this remarkable story unfolded.

In 1672, fourteen Malmesbury residents were accused of witchcraft. How did it happen? What came next? Local history expert and Chair of Malmesbury History Society, Robert Miller, will bring this dramatic chapter of the town’s past to life at the very places it happened.

Perfect for history lovers, curious locals, visitors, and anyone who would like to see familiar streets in a completely new light.

✨ This Thursday 27th August - step into the stories of Malmesbury’s remarkable women ✨

Join us for 'Women of Malmesbury', a fascinating Guided Walk uncovering the powerful, creative, courageous — and sometimes notorious — women who helped shape our town.

Led by local history expert and wonderfully entertaining guide Janet Casselden, this walk brings to life the stories behind names you may know — and many you’ll be glad to discover.

From Deborah Moody, Mary Chandler and Alice Seeley Harris to Anne Stumpe and Mary Knyvett and more, you’ll hear about women whose lives, work and influence left a lasting mark on local, national and international history.

Whether you’re a history lover, welcoming visitors, or simply curious to see familiar streets in a new light, this is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

👑 Why did Athelstan — the first King of England — choose Malmesbury Abbey as his final resting place? Join us this Saturday, 8 August at 2:30pm, for an entertaining guided walk exploring Athelstan’s special connection with Malmesbury, why Anglo-Saxon Malmesbury mattered so much, and the traces of a remarkable story still visible in the landscape today.

Led by Campbell Ritchie, project lead for Malmesbury’s Athelstan 1100 celebrations, the walk is just over a mile and finishes outside the Abbey at around 4:00pm.

🎟 Tickets: £7 adults / £3.50 children. Available from https://www.malmesbury.gov.uk/guided-walks and the Town and Tourist Information Centre in Malmesbury Town Hall — or turn up on the day if spaces remain. Booking in advance is recommended. All funds raised support local good causes.
