The organisation aims to reach a global audience through media broadcast station "UYG International" and spread our vision as well as carry out our mission to a wider audience and meet our organisational objectives. The company will use its resources to provide accessible training to people in the community with lower income by reaching out to local councils and government for support and referrals of individuals from less privileged backgrounds and support them to reach their full potential in life. The training will also include capacity building workshops and programmes that will enable individuals from difficult backgrounds to discover their skills and develop their talents to unleash their entrepreneurial skills and reach their career goals. We’re officially OPEN and UYG 2026/27 has begun! 🚀

As an organisation, our year follows the academic calendar, so September always feels like a fresh beginning — and what a way to start this one!
We’re beginning the year from our new space, with growing partnerships, new activities and exciting collaborations already underway.

This week we’re kicking off with our Work Experience programme in partnership with new collaboration with and new partnership, Maidstone Kent also working on preparations for new activities at the Empowering Womens Hub, Maidstone kent 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 including our first podcast collaboration with .blossomproject_ with harmonymartin_xx . 🎙️✨

And, of course, we’re delighted to be welcoming new faces alongside our existing UYG team as we prepare for another year of supporting women, families and our wider communities. 💛

✨ HAPPY SEPTEMBER FROM UYG SCOTLAND! 💛🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

New month. New beginnings. New connections. New possibilities. ✨

We’re excited to step into September and continue preparing for the amazing work ahead within our communities here in Edinburgh.

As UYG Scotland continues to grow, we are intentionally connecting with local communities, businesses, organisations and incredible individuals who share our passion for empowering women and girls and creating meaningful, lasting change.

This week, we had the absolute pleasure of meeting and connecting with the phenomenal Jobarteh, Founder and CEO of Fantanka Diaspora CIC. 👑💛

Mariama brings a wealth of experience in gender justice, supporting women and girls, culturally responsive support, community engagement and research, with particular insight into the experiences and barriers faced by African, Black and minority ethnic women.
Through Fantanka, she is creating spaces for women and girls to connect, be supported, have their voices heard and access opportunities to grow and thrive.

Our Founder, Gladness Empire Gladness Katega, had an inspiring conversation with
about our shared vision, the needs of our communities and the exciting possibilities for partnership, collaboration and collective impact between UYG Scotland and Fantanka.

And this is only the beginning… ✨
There is so much more to come, but for now, we are simply grateful to be building genuine relationships with phenomenal women and organisations who are passionate about making a difference.

As we continue establishing and growing UYG Scotland, we are excited about what can happen when women, organisations and communities come together with a shared purpose. 💛

September marks the start of our official new year, and as we prepare to open our doors for this next chapter, we’re looking for passionate, purpose-driven volunteers across Scotland and England to join our growing family.

Whether your strengths are in community outreach, digital marketing, administration, events, wellbeing, communications — or you simply have a heart for empowering women and strengthening communities — we would love to hear from you.

This is more than volunteering.

WE’VE LAUNCHED OUR CAMPAIGN! 🙌🏾

For the past three years, we’ve been taking our Join Queens: Elevate & End Abuse campaign into the Maidstone community — raising awareness, creating safe conversations and connecting women with support.

This year, we’re going further.

We’re raising £10,962 to deliver our 16 Days Against Gender-Based Violence campaign from 25 November – 10 December 2026.

With your support, we’ll deliver:
✨ 6 domestic abuse awareness stalls
✨ 2 Safe Circle wellbeing events
✨ Creative & confidence-building workshops
✨ Community outreach and support signposting

Our goal is to reach 300+ women and community members.

We’ve launched our Spacehive campaign, and we’d love you to be part of it.
