Re: The ebola epidemic in the DRC. As we can see on the news, it is spreading in the North of the DRC. People are not always aware of the risks involved, and not well informed. So far, the ebola has not spread in Bukavu (only one case confirmed) and our working partners and school are safe. We hope it will remain that way .

The people working the mine very often have no other choice , as they may have lost their paid employment, due to the presence of the rebels. These mining accidents are, unfortunately, quite common !

The mine gave way after heavy rains on Wednesday, a local rebel spokesman says.

Yesterday 22nd nov, we did this fund raising event in Dover Maison Dieu ( Town hall), for Congo action. Good efforts made by volunteers and grand children. Thank you to everyone who helped!

We are absolutely delighted to see the new initiative of the teachers at Kavumba primary school : At the prize giving ceremony at the end of last term, the children were rewarded with a guinea pig each ! Next year, they will pass on a new guinea pig to more pupils, and so on, and so forth. These little creatures are very valuable to families, because they represent added food and added income for the family.
What a great and exciting project !

Congo action had a stall, raising money, at a Lions fair in Sussex on the 17th of June. It was quite a successful event, and we had a delighted young customer who won our major tombola prize.
