21 Together

21 Together 21 Together is a charity working with people with Down's syndrome and those that support them. At every step our families need support.

We believe that everyone has the right to live their lives to the fullest of their potential. We will work together to raise expectations within the Down’s syndrome community and to empower those around us to promote inclusion and achieve aspirations. With raised expectations and empowered voices, anything is possible. Our Aims

What We Do

Training
We are going to provide a range of training aime

d at both parents and professionals. The training will cover many areas including but not restricted to SEN law, education, therapies, social/behaviour approaches, independent living and transition to adulthood. Education and Awareness
We are working with Canterbury Christchurch University to run education sessions with undergraduate midwives. We are now moving on to participate with a collaborative module between all health and social care students. We will be presenting about our experiences of person-centred working and team work. We hope to build on this and help provide awareness training in many settings from acute hospitals to voluntary organisations like scouting. Information
Our goal is to provide pertinent information on our website and link to other useful sources. This is a work in progress and we will look to build upon this as we go. We hope to provide local advice so that each family can use the experience of the community to find the best resources and build a database of useful local information. Support
This is potentially the most important aim of our charity. We aim to provide support to the families and carers so they can continue to support the person with Down’s syndrome to live life to the fullest of their potential.

A little insight into one of our S-Club sessions last weekend 💛

Lots of laughter, a bit of chaos (the good kind), and plenty of energy!

Our young people come together on Saturdays for games, chatting, and general fun .

It’s always great to see friendships growing and confidence building in a space where everyone is included, understood, and encouraged to be themselves.

Already looking forward to the next one ⭐

We are delighted to welcome Sam Barnard as an Ambassador for 21 Together!

Sam is a professional actor with 18 years’ experience and a passionate advocate for inclusion, accessibility and opportunity for people with learning disabilities.

Having trained on Mind the Gap’s ‘Staging Change’ course for actors with learning disabilities, Sam has built an impressive career across television, film, radio and theatre, with credits including EastEnders, Grantchester, Casualty, Silent Witness and The Inbetweeners.

On stage, Sam made history as the first professional actor with Down’s syndrome in the UK to appear in a full pantomime season.

Sam’s talent, determination and dedication to inclusion make him a wonderful role model, and we are honoured to have him join the 21 Together family as an ambassador.

Please join us in giving Sam a very warm welcome!
