21 Together

21 Together 21 Together is a charity working with people with Down's syndrome and those that support them. At every step our families need support.

We believe that everyone has the right to live their lives to the fullest of their potential. We will work together to raise expectations within the Down’s syndrome community and to empower those around us to promote inclusion and achieve aspirations. With raised expectations and empowered voices, anything is possible. Our Aims

What We Do

Training
We are going to provide a range of training aime

d at both parents and professionals. The training will cover many areas including but not restricted to SEN law, education, therapies, social/behaviour approaches, independent living and transition to adulthood. Education and Awareness
We are working with Canterbury Christchurch University to run education sessions with undergraduate midwives. We are now moving on to participate with a collaborative module between all health and social care students. We will be presenting about our experiences of person-centred working and team work. We hope to build on this and help provide awareness training in many settings from acute hospitals to voluntary organisations like scouting. Information
Our goal is to provide pertinent information on our website and link to other useful sources. This is a work in progress and we will look to build upon this as we go. We hope to provide local advice so that each family can use the experience of the community to find the best resources and build a database of useful local information. Support
This is potentially the most important aim of our charity. We aim to provide support to the families and carers so they can continue to support the person with Down’s syndrome to live life to the fullest of their potential.

🥾 THE TRAINING IS DONE. NOW IT’S TIME TO GO THE DISTANCE. 💙💛

Becky, Melissa and Mike are heading to Eastbourne this Saturday to take on the challenge they’ve been working towards — 100km from Eastbourne to Arundel in just two days.

There’ll be hills, sore feet, tired legs and a lot of kilometres between them and that finish line… but they’re ready to take it on! 💪🥾

Now they need one final push from the 21 Together community.

💙 Show your support

Every donation will help 21 Together continue supporting children and young people with Down syndrome, their families and the wider community.

And if you can't donate, you can still get behind them:
🔄 Share their fundraiser
💬 Send them some encouragement
❤️ Follow along with their challenge

100km. 2 days. 1 incredible cause.

Let's get Becky, Melissa and Mike to that finish line! 🥾💙💛

Can you help us count our pennies? 🪙

We’re looking for a coin counting machine to help us with our daily activities. Rather than counting hundreds of coins by hand, we’d love to find a quicker and easier way to make sure every penny is counted!

Do you have a coin counter you no longer need? Or would you be willing to buy one for us to help support our fundraising?

The type of thing we're looking for is this: Brecknell Coin Counter Electronic Checking Scale for all UK Coins Ref CC-804 175457 : Amazon.co.uk: Stationery & Office Supplies

If you have one you could donate or would like to help us purchase one, please get in touch at [email protected].

Something new is coming to Maidstone… 💚

We’re incredibly excited to announce that this October we’ll be opening the first ever 21 Together Charity Shop in The Mall, Maidstone!

But before we open our doors, we need your help. We’re looking for volunteers to join our new shop team and quality donations to help us fill the shelves.

From clothing and accessories to quality household items and small electricals, your unwanted items could help raise vital funds for children and young people with Down’s syndrome. Donations can be left at our dedicated drop-off area in the Maidstone Community Support Centre, or directly in the shop once we’re up and running!

We’re also looking for volunteers who can spare a few hours a week to help us get the shop up and running, as well as anyone who may have fixtures, fittings or other items that could help with the shop refit.

If you can help in any way, please get in touch at [email protected]. 💚
Keep your eyes peeled over the coming weeks as we get ready to open — we can’t wait to show you what we’re creating!

☀️ You don't need to give your child a “perfect” summer.

Social media can make the summer holidays look like one big list of days out, activities and adventures. But the moments that matter most don't have to cost a thing.

For children with Down syndrome, these everyday moments can also be opportunities to communicate, make choices, build independence and connect with the people around them.

It's not about how much you do. It's about the moments you share.

At 21 Together, we're here to support children and young people with Down syndrome to communicate, connect and thrive — not just at school, but in everyday life too.

We're truly grateful for Prison Island & Prison Putt Maidstone choosing us as Charity of the Year!

We’re incredibly proud that 21 Together is Prison Island Maidstone’s Charity of the Year.

Based right here in Maidstone, 21 Together does amazing work supporting children and young people with Down’s syndrome, their families, and the professionals who work alongside them. Through specialist communication and social groups, education and therapy programmes, family support, training and outreach into schools, they help young people build confidence, develop vital skills and reach their full potential. (21 Together)

Their support spans right from babies through to young adults, with programmes focused on everything from early communication and Makaton to friendships, independence and life skills. (21 Together)

It’s an incredible charity doing genuinely important work for families across Kent, and we’re so proud to be supporting them throughout the year.

We’ve got lots of opportunities planned to raise awareness, get involved and help support the work they do — and we can’t wait to work with the 21 Together team even more over the coming months. 💛

Keep your eyes peeled for more very soon!

A huge thank you to Saga for an incredible £2,750 donation to 21 Together, raised through their Colleague Charity Workplace Lottery. 💙

We’re especially grateful to know that a number of Saga colleagues nominated 21 Together to receive a share of the funds raised. It means so much to know that our work has been recognised and championed by people within the Saga team.

Donations like this can make a real and lasting difference to the children, young people and families we support, helping us continue to provide the specialist services, groups and opportunities that enable people with Down’s syndrome to thrive.

We also love seeing workplaces create opportunities like this for their colleagues to support causes that matter to them. Initiatives such as workplace lotteries can turn lots of small acts of participation into something that makes a huge difference to charities and the communities they serve.

Thank you, Saga, and thank you to all the colleagues who nominated us and took part. We’re incredibly grateful for your support. 💙
