Young@Heart is a partnership cafe working with NHS Memory Services, the Alzheimer's Society, Luton & St John’s & Holy Family and local support groups.

Our Cafe guests this week,enjoyed early Halloween 🎃 fun with our volunteers also getting the Halloween look. We had themed cakes to complete the experience and our Crafty Crafters dressed our tables and provided guest with themed headwear

This week our Cafe activity at Young at Heart was focused on reminiscence conversation of autumn memories. We prompted those memories with items, to see, touch, feel and smell, and they included pumpkins, leaves, conkers and pine cones. Lots of memories came flooding back with talk of Harvest festivals, preparing for Halloween, and playground competitions with conker challenges.

What a great turnout for our Luton Dementia Awareness Walk this year in its new venue of Wardown Park, Luton but it was extra special as one of our lovely supporters and her friends whose lives have been impacted by dementia completed their own sponsored walk. They walked from Flitwick to Wardown and have donated £700 to our charity. Thank you ladies 👏👏👏this will help us fund our Cafe Christmas Party this year

We look forward to seeing you and your families and friends for our “walk and talk” annual Luton Dementia Awareness Walk -this year in Wardown Park 11:30 from the Bandstand. We will have a local sports ambassador to start the walk and volunteers along the route

What a perfect day for Sarah from Fiddles, Flutes 'n' Cowboy Boots to visit and bring with her a fantastic donation from the proceeds of the Fiddles & Flutes Festival held in Stockwood Park Luton in July. We are so grateful to all of you who attended that festival and to Sarah and her fellow committee members for considering us in their fundraising efforts. It truly was a great anniversary gift for us and appreciated by our Cafe guests

World Alzheimer’s month is almost over and this September why not join us to join our Alzheimer’s/dementia awareness walk in Wardown Park Luton on Sunday 27 September starting from the Bandstand at 11:30. We will have a well known local sports ambassador leading the way 🏃🏼‍♂️
