As a child during Nigeria's civil war in the late 1960s, Ify relied on UNICEF UK to help survive the conflict.

She arrived in the UK as a penniless student and went on to build what has been widely hailed as the most creative family in the UK.

Read Ify’s remarkable story.

Ify's first-hand experience growing up during the civil war in Nigeria in the late 1960s underpins why she’s still passionate about helping children thrive today.

Amrit began losing her sight at the age of five due to glaucoma. Her sight deteriorated gradually, and today, she is totally blind with only faint light perception in one eye.

Despite the challenges, Amrit lives a full and joyful life with her husband and children. She’s an artist, singer, dancer - as well as a passionate disability advocate, public speaker, podcast collaborator, and volunteer.

Amrit’s incredible success has in part been made possible through the life changing support she has received from RNIB. Support that was made available thanks to the generosity of those who have left a gift to the charity in their Will.

On her 40th birthday, Lisa Newman was beginning an 18-month prison sentence for dealing drugs. Today, aged 52 and living in Gloucestershire, she’s a qualified addiction recovery coach, a public speaker, and a business owner.

While in prison, Lisa came across The Prison Phoenix Trust, a charity that supports people in custody through the tools of yoga, meditation and spiritual connection. What started with a letter turned into a lifeline; made possible in part by people who leave gifts in Wills.

On her 40th birthday, Lisa Newman was beginning an 18-month prison sentence for dealing drugs. Today, aged 52 and living in Gloucestershire, she’s a qualified addiction recovery coach, a public speaker, and a business owner. But back then, life felt completely out of control.
