PCS is the largest trade union in the civil service, representing workers in the public sector as well as commercial and private sector workers who work on government contracts. The PCS page aims to provide information about PCS’s campaigns, events and other issues that are of interest and relevance to PCS members and potential members. Page administrators from PCS’s communications team w
ill be available during normal working hours from Monday to Friday and we will reply to comments as soon as possible. We want our page to be open and truly social, where everyone can comment and see what others are saying in a safe and welcoming space. Rules
When commenting and interacting with posts on the PCS page, please abide by the rules below. PCS reserves the right to hide or delete any comment or interaction we feel breaks any of the below rules, and to block users. We may also turn comments off from certain posts at our discretion.
• Be respectful: Treat others with kindness and respect. We welcome healthy debate but remember that not everyone shares your opinion.
• Be kind: Avoid bullying, hate speech, and degrading comments. If we see a post that is rude, threatening or offensive we will delete it. Any post that is deliberately trying to offend, intimidate or provoke people will be deleted.
• Spamming or posting the same message indiscriminately to unrelated posts will be deleted and may result in a ban.
• Be on topic: Keep discussions relevant to the original post. You can DM us if you want to ask us about anything else.
• Respect others' privacy. Don't share sensitive information or discuss other people’s personal cases.
• Be mindful: Avoid spam, self-promotion, and irrelevant links. Any posts deemed to be electioneering will be removed.
• Be responsible. You are legally responsible for what you post on this page. If you are a PCS member working for the civil service you should ensure your standards of behaviour on social media comply with the Civil Service Code of Standards and Behaviour and the policies of your department. Civil servants working for the Scottish and Welsh Governments, and their agencies, have their own versions of the code and similar codes apply to the Northern Ireland civil service.
• No fake profiles. If we believe a profile misrepresents an individual’s identity they will be blocked. We welcome participation from our members on all social platforms and hope that you continue to positively engage with the union through all communication channels in a respectful and supportive manner.
