On Friday we said goodbye to our General Secretary, Sally Tsoukaris, as she retired after four years with CSPA.

Many of you will have met Sally over the years at the AGM, branch meetings and events, or seen her representing CSPA on the issues that matter to pensioners. She has worked hard on behalf of our members and has been a valued part of the organisation.

From everyone at CSPA, thank you, Sally, for everything you've done. We wish you a long, happy and well-deserved retirement.

Please join us in wishing Sally all the very best for this exciting new chapter.

Social care is something that touches many of our members, whether you've needed support yourself, cared for a loved one or are thinking about what the future might look like.

Today, the Prime Minister announced a number of plans aimed at improving adult social care. These include bringing forward Baroness Casey's independent review, launching a nationwide "Big Conversation" to hear people's views, looking at better pay and training for care workers, and holding cross-party talks on reform.

As part of Later Life Ambitions, we've long been calling for a better funded, fairer social care system that works for everyone in later life, so we'll be following these developments closely.

We've rounded up everything that was announced and what it could mean. You can read the full article here 👇

This September we're launching a two-year trial of an all-member ballot to elect key members of the CSPA Executive Council.

As the number of active local groups has declined over time, not every member has been able to take part in electing our national leadership. The new trial is designed to give every member the opportunity to have their say.

Our latest article explains the background to the trial and the reasons behind this important change.

We'll be sharing more information throughout August, including how to cast your vote and introducing the candidates standing in this year's election.

In early September, CSPA members will have the opportunity to take part in something new – our first all-member ballot to elect key members of the Executive

As part of our Budget for Later Life campaign, we're calling for a fairer, more age-inclusive workplace. We believe older workers should be valued for their skills and experience, with better protection from age discrimination, greater access to training, and more flexible working opportunities.

As part of the campaign, we'd love to hear from you.

At what age did you retire?

React below to let us know:

Independent Age are asking for your help to make sure MPs hear from older people.

Help them by encouraging your local MP to attend a Parliamentary drop-in event on Monday 6 July.

The event will highlight the financial challenges facing older people on low incomes, including the difficulties some face accessing support such as Pension Credit and Council Tax Reduction.

MPs are much more likely to attend when someone from their constituency invites them, so a quick email from you could make a real difference.
