Providence House

Providence House The bread and butter of our work is young people - demanding children, active teenagers, challenging youths.

A Christian Mission

Just 100 yards from Clapham Junction station, Providence House has worked in this area for over 45 years, first in a shabby church building in the streets of old Battersea, and since 1970 in its present purpose built premises, situated on the edge of several high rise housing estates. Educational classes, , youth clubs and community activities for all ages take place regularly

, and everyone, whatever their age, or ethnic origins is welcome to come in and discuss problems or simply have company. Building Community

Providence House is situated in a mixed community, even with the surrounding shops representing multi-ethnic choice or community interests. Very often our forecourt is the focal point for visitors to these shops. Our work has always taken us into the local housing estates, meeting young people, visiting families. We are active in a number of local community partnerships. We seek to be a place where different peoples can come together and find their place. Engaging Young People

The bread and butter of our work is young people - demanding children, active teenagers, challenging youths. Running youth clubs, sporting activities, listening, building relationships is our daily task. A Lung for the City

For over 35 years the work at Providence has been inseparably linked to the development of East Shallowford Farm, Widecombe, Devon, with a continual stream of families and young people visiting and taking part in the life of the farm. The lives of very many have been impacted by their experience of staying at the farm, with opportunities for new learning and new experiences, for personal development and skills training. Facing the Future

Today we face new challenges in a rapidly changing world, and seek to go forward to meet the growing opportunities. The development of small groups for young people, in which they can grow and develop and meet new challenges. A facing up to the new opportunities that face young people today, searching for meaning, searching for identity and belonging, and often following the routes that fail to satisfy the quest. A renewal of Providence House as a place for all ages, all people.

A few months ago, I spoke about the need for a rebrand at Providence House.

Today, I’m proud to say that rebrand is complete.

Over the past few months, we’ve been working hard to create something that better reflects who we are as an organisation, the young people we serve, and the future we are building together. From our new look and feel to a clearer vision of our work, this marks an exciting new chapter for Providence House.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout this process. We’re just getting started.

This week is and at Providence House we’ll be using our sessions to have honest conversations with young people about staying safe in the community, making informed choices, and looking out for one another.

Too many young people are being affected by violence across our communities and it’s important that we create safe spaces where young people feel heard, supported and informed.

We’ll also be discussing what to do if you know someone is carrying a knife, including how to seek support from trusted adults, youth workers, schools and services that can help before situations escalate.

At Providence House, we believe prevention starts with conversation, trust and community. 💙

Last month, two of our incredible young leaders had the opportunity to attend Andorra 🇦🇩 as part of the excel programme, an experience focused on building confidence, leadership, and lifelong skills through adventure.

From that first unsure step to embracing every challenge on the slopes, their journey has been amazing to witness. It’s a reminder of what can happen when young people are given opportunities and someone believes in them.

Opportunities like this go far beyond the experience itself, they open doors, build resilience, and inspire what’s possible for the future.

We couldn’t be prouder of how they’ve represented Providence House Youth Club. This is just the beginning 🚀
