Another successful weekend as we get ready to start the 2026 season. We have run a SRC VHF Course and a RYA Safety Boat Course. While these courses where running the main pontoons and the tyre fendering have all been cleaned and are looking very smart, the weeding around the building has been tidied up, all looking very smart, the bottoms of the two Quests have been pressure washed and scrubbed. Over the last couple of Wednesday afternoons the quay side under the trailers have been swept and washed. Thank you to the QM's and Crew who have made time to come down to get these essential jobs done before we start with the 2026 activity weekends. There is still much to do though!

Here at DSP we have started the year with a bang! In the first two months we have successfully run:-

A Crew & Quartermaster (QM) Induction Weekend where we officially welcomed a number of new QMs and Crew to the team. The weekend was filled with learning, team building, orientation but most of all FUN!

A Power Boat Level 2 Qualification Course

A Diesel Engine Course

4 RYA First Aid Courses

3 RYA SRC Radio Courses (Marine VHF for those who are not familiar with this course)

and a Scout Pulling Course

March is looking equally exciting with a RYA SRC Radio Course, a RYA Safety Boat Course, 2 RYA Dinghy Level 2 Courses, a RYA Keel Boat Level 2 Course, 2 RYA Level 2 Power Boat Courses, 2 Paddle UK Explore Award Courses, a Scout Pulling Course and an RYA First Aid Course - where do we find the time!

There are still spaces available on some of these courses, especially the RYA Keel Boat Course so if anyone is looking to do one of these qualifications, reach out to us via [email protected] for dates and details.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help run these and all of our courses - DSP is totally volunteer run and we very much appreciate the time our Crew & QMs give to such an important & worthwhile project.

This afternoon members of Dockland Scout Project said a final farewell to a much love member of the DSP family, Alan Coldwell. Alan had been a member for 44 years and even at 90 years of age he regularly volunteered on the water at our Open Days - they won’t be the same without him.

Good evening all, this is a quick post to remind you that Scout Activity permits need to be kept up to date, and in the new Scout My Membership system you need to make the application for permits to be renewed.

With this in mind over the next few days I will be sending out emails to those of you that we believe permits need renewing.

My intention is for the email to assist you navigate the process as seamlessly as possible.

Thank you all for your continual support.

Ian

Just so you are all aware Richard Harts personal page has been duplicated.

It is now only 4 weeks until those who have not completed the new Safety module will be suspended (automatically) Most of you will have had at least 3 reminders from Scouts and phone calls from Martin. Many tell us " I will do it tomorrow" but tomorrow never seems to come.
We need to be ready, for when we are allowed to start up again, so please can you get this done and remove one less thing for me to worry about. Thanks - Richard
