Real is a Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisation (DDPO) run by, and working for, Disabled people in Tower Hamlets and across London. All our services are free.

We empower Disabled people through independent advocacy, training and events. We’re working together to give disabled people the same choices and opportunities as everyone else. We support disabled people and anyone else dealing with disability or who works with disabled people. At Real, we work alongside Disabled people to provide practical, joined up support when it matters most. Recently, our team supported one family through a particularly challenging time.

By working together across our teams, we were able to provide coordinated, holistic support. Jordan did not have to repeat her story or navigate complex systems alone. Instead, she had consistent support at every step.

Our free legal support services allow meaningful change like this to happen. We will be walking in the London Legal Walk to raise funds for the continuation of these services.

💚 You said, we did. 💚

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re reflecting on the importance of listening to people with lived experience and turning feedback into action.

People told us they wanted more opportunities to come together and take part in activities that support positive mental health and wellbeing.

So,, Real is working with peer leaders to develop new Wellbeing Workshops, including Arts and Games groups.
