In response to a recent social media trend promoting school vs school conflict, Streets of Growth, as part of the Better Bethnal Green (BBG) Consortium, coordinated response with BBG partners and the local authority by deploying outreach teams during after-school hours.

Our teams spoke directly with young people to understand what they were seeing online, how it was affecting them, and what support they needed. We also shared practical guidance on how to report concerns and pass on information safely, helping reduce risk and prevent escalation.

MyEnds tackles violence and exploitation in 11 London areas, including Tower Hamlets, delivering a range of interventions to help keep young people safe. The Better Bethnal Green programme is funded by London's Violence Reduction Unit and delivered alongside our partners Tower Hamlets Council for Voluntary Service, We are Spotlight and Osmani Trust .

We are delighted to share that Streets Of Growth has been recognised by London Youth with the award of the Bronze Quality Mark.

The Quality Mark is London Youth’s flagship quality assurance programme. It provides a trusted badge of excellence and is recognised by local authorities and funders.

As part of the assessment, we were reviewed across key areas including safeguarding, diversity and inclusion, health and safety, leadership, partnerships, and the outcomes we deliver with young people. The Quality Mark is designed specifically for youth organisations and uniquely involves young people in the process.

We are proud to achieve this milestone after months of focused work. Bronze is the first step in the Quality Mark journey, and we are already building towards Silver and Gold.

24 years ago, a small shopfront opened its doors, and Streets of Growth was born. The rest as they say, is history.

Incredible things have been achieved. Lives have been changed. Lives have been saved.

Yet the challenge today is even greater than when we first started. The world has become an even more uncertain place, especially for the young people we serve.

𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻

As part of a social action day at Meath Gardens, Bethnal Green, our Young Leaders:

- Helped plan the event
- Pre-made tote bags and supported young children painting them with our creative tutors
- Led sports activities including boxing
- Engaged residents in two key surveys

𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆 - identifying where people feel unsafe or see crime/anti-social behaviour, and collecting ideas to make the area safer.

MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) Survey - finding out what residents want from local cultural heritage buildings and how they’d like to explore history around Hayloft Point and The Boar’s Head Theatre / Playhouse.

This type of social action is a stepping stone before employment preparation, helping young people build leadership, communication skills, and purpose while making tangible change.

A huge thank you to London Borough of Tower Hamlets for inviting us to take part in this community event, and to Berkeley Group for volunteering alongside our Young Leaders and bringing extra energy to the day.
