How many vulnerable children never make the headlines?
In June, Ukrainian authorities reported a child protection case in Kamianske, where a 7-year-old boy was allegedly found chained to a radiator and living in unsafe conditions. The child was removed from the home and an investigation was launched.
While this case shocked many, it is also a reminder that behind every headline is a child who needed help long before the crisis unfolded.
Across Ukraine, years of war, displacement, financial hardship and trauma continue to place enormous pressure on vulnerable families.
At ChildAid, we work with local partners to support children and strengthen families through safe spaces, psychosocial support, and community programmes that help prevent vulnerable children from being left behind.

Summer has arrived at the refugee camp in Kamianske, bringing moments of joy, laughter, and hope.
This week, children gathered with their beloved teacher, Iryna, to make fresh lemonade together. They laughed, learned, worked as a team, and enjoyed the simple pleasures that every child should experience.
For a little while, the challenges of war were replaced by smiles, friendship, and the sweetness of a summer afternoon.
These moments matter. They help children feel safe, restore a sense of normality, and remind them that even during difficult times, there is still room for happiness and hope.
