A warm welcome to our new trustee Claire Robinson! 👋

Trustees play a vital role at Action Tutoring, providing the strategic guidance and governance needed to maximize our impact for pupils facing disadvantage 🎓

Claire brings extraordinary expertise to our Board of Trustees as a former MAT CEO, National Leader of Education, and founder of The 28% Club. Her lifelong dedication to educational equity and school improvement will be invaluable as we continue closing the attainment gap for pupils facing disadvantage. Welcome, Claire! 💚

Almost half of the gap in attainment between pupils facing disadvantage and their better-off peers is already locked in by the end of primary school.

But targeted tutoring works❗

Last academic year, primary school pupils who completed 10 tutoring sessions with us, closed the gap in reading 📖 They met the expected standards at the same rate as their peers nationally

Whether you're a a school looking for a high-impact intervention to support pupils who need it most, an organisation wanting to support a local charity, or an individual looking to give back to your community, get in touch!

At our August team days, we asked our staff what their favourite thing about Action Tutoring is, here is what they said ⬇️🤩

08/09/2026

"Normally on a Tuesday morning I would know that we've got the reading tests and be struggling to come into school cos I'm thinking I'm not gonna do well on this test cos I'm not good at English. But this morning I was actually excited to do it because I thought I've noticed myself that I've definitely done well in the tutoring, it's made a big difference. So I want to see what I get, I want to know," says Lydia, a Year 6 pupil 🥹

This International Literacy Day, we celebrate the impact just one hour per week can have on a pupil's confidence and enjoyment of reading and language 📖💚

Level up your career while transforming a young life 💼✨

At Action Tutoring, we use a structured Best Practice Framework to ensure our pupils receive top-tier support. But the benefits flow both ways - the core competencies you practice in a one hour tutoring session translate directly into key skills top employers look for.

As our volunteer tutor Mark put it: "Being in that position where people are listening and what you say matters translates into the workplace for me. I can come across better than I would have without volunteering."

Whether you want to boost your CV, prepare for a promotion, or step into a new career with confidence, giving just one hour a week opens doors for young people and for you!
