A striking new statistic from Teacher Tapp reveals the reality facing primary schools across the country: only 15% of Year 6 teachers report comfortably covering all SATs content in their timetabled lessons. With 54% just about managing it and 31% unable to finish the curriculum.

The government has released more details about the scheme that is planned to support pupils in coastal areas and the north east, ending the postcode lottery 🙌

Rural inequity in education is a complex issue, often invisible to traditional metrics like Pupil Premium percentages. It manifests in hidden disadvantage such as families relying on seasonal employment, more limited access to resources and a smaller choice, and therefore competition, of schools.

We recognise that equity in education isn’t just about targeting obvious areas of deprivation. It is also about reaching into communities where challenges may be less visible but equally impactful. We are hopeful that this initiative could serve as a model for addressing rural educational inequity on a broader scale 📚

We were thrilled to be represented in both the 10k and half marathon races. Our dedicated runners raised phenomenal funds, helping us to continue opening doors to brighter futures for young people facing disadvantage. 💡

Whilst the last couple of kilometres were an uphill battle, it was a day full of spirit and cheer with thousands of runners and supporters filling the streets of Birmingham.

We are continuing our birthday week by spotlighting one of our very first volunteer tutors, Patrick 🌟

Patrick was a solicitor who swapped central London law for a secondary school classroom after volunteering with us in Peckham. He then went on to become a Subject Leader for English, nurturing the next generation of curious learners 📖

Since Patrick's first sessions, Action Tutoring has expanded across the country, reaching thousands of pupils facing socio-economic disadvantage. While our reach has grown, our core remains the same: ensuring every young person can access the results and futures they deserve.
