There’s a new start date for our next Room for Work Kingston course. On November 4th we begin delivery of our Age Friendly 45+ Kingston course.

The Kingston Age Friendly programme aims to improve healthy ageing and healthy life expectancy. Employment is an explicit part of the framework.

Room for Work provides support to the programme by delivering a new 7-session employability course for older skilled workers. The course combines practical job search support with structured activities to improve confidence, motivation and mental wellbeing, responding to evidence that unemployment in later working life is often associated with anxiety, depression, reduced confidence, and long-term health barriers.

There’s no upper age limit at Room for Work. If you’re over 45, unemployed or underemployed, and you need a boost to restart your work life we’re here to help.

If you're over 45, live in Kingston, and you're struggling to get back into work, help is at hand.

Our Kingston Age Friendly 45+ programme is a 7-session employability course for older skilled workers who are unemployed or economically inactive.

The programme combines practical job search support with structured activities to improve confidence, motivation, routine, and mental wellbeing, responding to evidence that unemployment in later working life is strongly associated with anxiety, depression, reduced confidence, and long-term health barriers.

By integrating mental health awareness into employability support, the course helps people become more job-ready while also improving resilience and reducing isolation. Participants benefit from peer-to-peer learning in groups of 12-15 people, meeting weekly for sessions 2.5 hours in length. Tailored one-to one-mentoring is included.



Dates: October 7th - November 25th
Times: Wednesdays 10.30am-1pm
Location: The Warehouse, St Johns Hampton Wick, KT1 4AL

Opening Doors to New Opportunities for Over-40s in Guildford
We're delighted that Guildford Philanthropy is supporting Room for Work with funding for a 12-session programme for job seekers in Guildford, running from September to December 2026.
Room for Work specialises in helping people aged 40+ who have been frozen out of the job market due to ageism, as well as long-term unemployed people, single parents returning to work, people claiming benefits, migrants seeking their first UK role, and those returning to employment after caring responsibilities. The charity has particular expertise in supporting older, skilled workers, including managers and professionals.
Through this programme, participants will gain the skills, confidence and motivation needed to return to sustainable employment, training or self-employment.

Guildford Philanthropy is one of the area funds managed by Community Foundation for Surrey. These funds bring together donations from local individuals, families and businesses, with funding decisions guided by volunteer panels made up of people from the communities they serve.

Room for Work is stretching out this autumn. We're expanding our reach into Elmbridge and Surrey with two new courses.

We'll be in Walton starting September 24th, and in Guildford on the 29th.
