Taking a walk along the High Road today and the streets are looking visibly more clear of rubbish. We're currently on a drive to clamp down on fly-tipping businesses and extraneous waste dumping on the street and are working very closely with Lambeth Council on this.

It seems to be working and we're really pleased to see immediate results.

But the work continues and we are reporting dumped rubbish on the daily.

A reminder that If you see fly tipping or rubbish left anywhere on our High Road please DON'T just walk on by!

If you report it, it gets logged & we at the BID can then request more frequent cleaning and clearing of our High Road. It is working .. so please keep it up!

They’re back… and they’re looking lush! 🍅

The The Rebel Inn tomato plants have become a bit of a Streatham High Road staple over the years. Owner Peter keeps the pub windows bursting with colour (and veg!) and we absolutely love how much they brighten up the High Road.

It’s a great little reminder that the front of your business can say so much about who you are — and give people another reason to stop, look and come in.

And if you haven’t popped into The Rebel lately, there’s plenty going on inside as well ...

The summer holidays aren’t over yet! There’s plenty going on this weekend along Streatham High Road for the little ones to enjoy.

📍 The Black Kitchen Slush & Paint session will have your little ones’ imaginations running wild. With kid friendly music & special menu for the little ones. Equipment and slushies (with all the flavours!) supplied.

📍 Waterstones Streatham is celebrating Chanté Timothy’s new graphic novel Supa Nova: Robot Takeover with a fun children’s event featuring drawing, a reading and author Q&A this Sunday 23rd August at 10am. Details on their page.

A reminder to all businesses on Streatham High Road.

You must have a commercial business contract in place and must NOT be using residential waste collection services.

Under UK law and Lambeth Council regulations, you must have a commercial business contract in place and must NOT be using residential waste collection services.

Your business rates do not cover trade waste disposal, and you have a strict legal "Duty of Care" to manage, store, and dispose of commercial rubbish safely and through authorised carriers.

You do not have to use Lambeth Council for your waste contract but many businesses do.

Notice to local retailers. News update.

Disposal barbecues have been temporarily banned from sale over fears they pose a "significant risk to the public" as drought and heatwave conditions continue to grip the UK

Fines can be issued if ignored so please remove these items from sale until further notice.

We understand that Transport for London A23/Streatham Hill overnight works will take place this week on:

Fri 14th
Sat 15th
Mon 17th
Tues 18th
Wed 19th

Contractors have also confirmed that these will not result in the closure of Streatham Hill or any bus / traffic diversions.

There will be a further full road closures in December 2026 when they resurface the road. Dates of these will be provided to be nearer the time once confirmed.

We are also glad to hear the contractors have assured local councillors that all of the bus stops will be re-opening imminently. Conway has confirmed that they no longer require them to be closed so TfL is liaising with the relevant teams to get them re-opened.

📍 - has a really good summer sale rack in store with gorgeous lightweight pjs, summer tops and dresses all discounted. They’ve also just re-stocked their sunglasses so there’s no excuse not to look cool.
📍 HoneyCake London - it’s not just cakes (although the milk cake is so good!). They have several flavours of soft serve ice cream, shakes and a really tasty looking cool-mocktail menu.
