As part of their Brockwell Hall Living Archive Training, a group of volunteers recently visited to explore how local histories are collected, preserved and shared.

On this 10-week course volunteers are learning to collect and document oral histories about Brockwell Park and Brockwell Hall, developing skills in:
🎙️ Conducting engaging and ethical interviews
👂 Active listening and storytelling
🎧 Recording and editing oral histories
✍️ Turning interviews into accessible stories for the public

Their theme: “Who is Brockwell Park and Brockwell Hall for?” 🌳

The aim is to capture the stories of local residents, community groups and organisations, helping preserve the history of Brockwell Park as a public space for generations to come!

Building stronger community research skills 🔍

This Tuesday, we welcomed Lambeth-based non-profit organisations to High Trees for our Introduction to Community Research session.

The session explored the foundations of community research, including:

📚 What community research is
🔍 Different approaches to community research
💡 Why community research matters
🤝 The skills, methodology and ethical considerations involved in carrying out high-quality research

It was designed to give organisations the knowledge and confidence to use community research to better understand the communities they work with, and use their learning to create positive change.

📣 Young people from across Lambeth came together for LPAC's latest Talk It Out session, sharing their experiences, perspectives and ideas on mental health, emotional wellbeing and the support available to them.

The Lambeth Peer Action Collective (LPAC) team also shared early insights from their newest research, which explores the mental health needs of young people affected by violence and the support they may need, and gathered feedback from those in the room.

Hearing directly from young people helps build a clearer picture of what's needed and what could make a real difference in their communities. 🧡
