Supporting people into employment is a key part of how we help individuals build brighter futures, whether that’s through developing confidence, gaining new skills, exploring career opportunities or taking those important first steps towards work.

In the past two years, 1,032 learners completed a course with High Trees.

Our adult learning programme helps people build new skills, grow their confidence, and opens up new opportunities for themselves and their communities. 💚

Because when people have the skills and support to thrive, our communities thrive too.

Our 2023-2025 Impact Report is out now! 📖

Over these past two years, we have been working alongside our community to create opportunities, strengthen local connections and help people across Lambeth thrive 💚

Highlights include:
🎓 Supporting learners to develop new skills
💼 Helping residents move into employment
🏗️ Rebuilding our Adventure Playground for children and young people
🤝 Building more civically-engaged communities
🌐 Developing a stronger voluntary and community sector
🔍 Creating meaningful change through community research

At the heart of it all is our belief that lasting change happens when individuals, communities, and the organisations working with them have the power, voice and resources to shape the decisions that affect them.

🌳 Tulse Hill residents, we need your input!

Our team recently attended the St Martins Community Fun Day, meeting local residents and speaking to them about how they stay active and what could help them get active in their community.

It was great to hear directly from local people and share information about our work with the Lambeth Can Move initiative.

🎉 We're thrilled to share some exciting news!

Building Young Brixton (BYB) has been shortlisted for the Inspirational Local Partnership Award at the National Arts & Cultural Education Awards 2026.

Being recognised alongside inspiring organisations from across the country is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the power of partnership, creativity and community.

This nomination celebrates the incredible collaboration between our partners, youth workers and, most importantly, the young people who continue to shape BYB through their ideas, talent and leadership.

With more than 250 submissions received across all award categories, we're incredibly proud that BYB has been recognised for the impact we're making together.

We were delighted to attend the Lambeth Adult Learning End of Year Awards 🥳

The event celebrated the strength, success and journeys of our adult learners. The ceremony also gave us the privilege to hear learners' stories that portrayed their resilience and determination as well as showcasing their exceptional creativity. The room reflected what a supportive and dynamic learning network should look like.

We're proud to have had one of very own learners and volunteers be among those receiving awards on the day.

🏆 Naima was awarded the Lambeth Adult Learning’s Learner of the Year
🏆 Brian won the award of Outstanding Colleague of the Year

What a year of learning this has been! Here's to another year of growth, transformation and community spirit! 🤝
