Pecan Transforming lives, transforming communities. Pecan is a Christian organisation started by local churches 25 years ago.

We help people who face seemingly impassable barriers to find a way through, to re-write their futures, to flourish. We work with the most vulnerable people in the Peckham community – including ex-offenders and their families, people living with mental health issues and the long-term unemployed. We never stop believing that all people can achieve their God-given potential. And our work prompts tra

nsformation across the community. We see those we work with as people who need supporting – not problems which need solving. We believe in unlocking people’s own potential. Which is why our projects address all the needs of our participants – social, material, emotional and spiritual. We partner with local churches and advocate for those we work with, challenging inequality and injustice at a local and national level.

A huge thank you to Team OCS (Alfie, Cam, Beau and Sabina) for being great volunteers and beginning the next stage of Pecan’s revamp. It’s easy to focus on the services we deliver and forget that our working environment matters too. Creating a brighter, more welcoming space makes a difference to our staff, as well as the clients, volunteers and visitors who come through our doors. The groundwork is done, and we’re already looking forward to welcoming Team OCS back for the next stage – time to get the paintbrushes out!

We’re proud to be rooted in and to support people across . And we couldn’t do what we do without a community that believes in looking out for one another. A big thank you to Claudia at Well & Fed , the very first local independent business to display our new Support Pecan sign! Every sign will help spread the word about our work tackling the barriers that keep people in poverty by connecting people with support around food, financial resilience, employment, safety, wellbeing and belonging.

After the brilliant Peckham Food Weekend 2026, our friends at Mr Bao wanted to keep the partnership going for the rest of the year and we couldn’t be more grateful. Daisy Johnson, Senior Marketing Manager at Mr.Bao and the wonderful mind behind the Food Weekend, shared: "We've now added a donation to Peckham Pantry onto our menu, so £1 from every pork bao will go to you.” So, if you needed another reason to enjoy a bao … this is a pretty good one. Thank you to everyone who has been in touch following the fire next to our warehouse over the weekend. We’re grateful to confirm that no one was harmed, and all our food and provisions are safe. The incident is under control and is being handled by the Metropolitan Police.

We can't believe it's already been a week since the Peckham Food Weekender! We've loved looking back through photos from our staff, volunteers and friends who enjoyed this brilliant community foodie event. A huge thank you to the 19 incredible restaurants, cafés and bars that made the weekend such a success. Your generosity will help support Peckham Pantry – our social supermarket, where local people can shop for £5 and receive up to £20 worth of groceries. And to everyone who enjoyed one of the £10 specials – thank you! £1 from every meal sold will help more people in Southwark access affordable, nutritious food with dignity.
