🐾 Happy Tails for Chad! 🐾

We absolutely love a happy update, & Chad’s is a lovely one. ❤️

A few weeks ago, this laid-back, charming boy found his forever home with a lovely lady who has actually adopted two cats from Animal Samaritans before.

Sadly, both of her previous cats passed away over the last year or so, & her remaining cat was missing having a feline friend.

We knew Chad could be the perfect match. He’s such a calm, easy-going boy who loves company, enjoys a fuss & is always happy to have a little chat. His laid-back attitude made him a great candidate for a new feline friendship.

And it looks like we got it right! 🥰

Chad has settled in beautifully & appears to be very much enjoying having a new friend. Judging by this photo, he’s already taken on the role of Zen Master & is now teaching his new friend the ancient art of Cat Yoga. 😂🐈‍⬛🧘‍♂️

We think you’ll agree that Chad looks extremely comfortable in his new home!

Another Animal Samaritans cat safely home, loved & living his best life. ❤️

Happy tails, Chad! We couldn’t be happier for you. 🐾💕

🐾 Tweed’s Story 🐾

Some cats come into rescue needing a little help. Others come into rescue needing someone to completely change the course of their life.

Tweed was only around four or five months old when she came into our care. She had suffered a terribly injured leg which, sadly, was so badly damaged that it had to be amputated.

Thankfully, some incredibly kind members of the public managed to get Tweed to safety. She was taken to The Shrubbery Vets, where her leg was amputated and she received the care she needed to get better. Once she was stable, Tweed came to me for her recovery.

And there’s something else rather special about Tweed. ❤️

She’s a polydactyl, meaning she has extra toes. So despite only having three legs, Tweed still has an impressive 18 toes! 🐾

It quickly became clear that Tweed was absolutely terrified of people. She was just a tiny kitten who had already been through far more than she should have, and understandably, the world felt like a very frightening place.

Because she only had three legs, we didn’t feel that a farm or yard home would be appropriate for her. She needed somewhere safe, secure and patient where she could simply be Tweed.

Then there was Nori. ❤️

Tweed formed a bond with one of my own cats, Nori, and she has helped her enormously. Having another cat around who she trusted gave Tweed the confidence to slowly start coming out of her shell.

She’s still very much a work in progress. Tweed doesn’t like being touched and we’re not going to force that. But she is happy for you to talk to her, she’ll take treats from your hand and, most importantly, she’s learning that humans aren’t something to be afraid of.

And there is absolutely no rush.

Tweed will remain an Animal Samaritans cat for the rest of her life. She has Nori by her side, a safe place to call home & all the time she needs to simply be herself.

I think it’s fair to say Tweed has found exactly where she belongs. ❤️🐾

Sometimes rescue isn’t about finding a home as quickly as possible.

Sometimes it’s about giving a frightened little cat the time, patience & security she needs to finally feel at home.

💜 Meet Myrtle 💜

Beautiful Myrtle is a 15-year-old lady looking for a peaceful retirement home where she can finally enjoy the love, comfort and security she deserves.

Myrtle came into Animal Samaritans after being found as a stray. Since coming into our care, she has blossomed into a gentle, friendly girl. She has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and is now ready to find a forever family of her own.

Myrtle is happiest in a quiet home where she can take life at her own pace. She enjoys having a cosy place to hide away when she wants some peace, but when she’s ready, she’ll come and seek out affection on her own terms. Building a bond with Myrtle is incredibly rewarding, as every moment of trust she gives is something truly special.

She is looking for a patient family who understand that not every cat wants to be the centre of attention all the time. Myrtle simply wants a safe home where she can relax, feel secure and enjoy gentle companionship.

Myrtle would like to be the only pet in the home, as she isn’t keen on living with other cats or dogs. She would be happiest in a home with older children aged 12 and over who will respect her space.

Myrtle has hyperthyroidism, which is well managed with daily Thyronorm medication. She’s looking for someone who is happy to continue this simple treatment so she can enjoy many more happy years.

🐱 Female, 15 years old
🐱 Domestic Short Hair
🐱 Must be the only pet
👧 Suitable for children aged 12+
🐶 No dogs
🏡 Indoor home initially, with the option of safe outdoor access once settled

Myrtle has spent far too long fending for herself. Now she deserves a warm bed, a full tummy and someone who will love her exactly as she is. Could you be the one to give this lovely older lady the happy ending she’s been waiting for? ❤️

💕 Meet Maverick & Mauritiana (Riri) 💕

Maverick (b/w) 10 month old boy and Riri (calico 7 month old girl)haven’t had the easiest start in life, but together they’ve learned that the world isn’t such a scary place.

Maverick came from an unwanted litter, while Riri was rescued from a busy hoarding home. Both arrived frightened, unsure of people and lacking the confidence to simply be cats.

With patience, kindness and the reassurance of other cats, they’ve come such a long way. Today they both love to play, happily take treats and have grown into gentle, curious companions. Maverick has found his voice and enjoys a little chat, while Riri has blossomed alongside her feline friends.

Neither enjoys being touched just yet, and both are wonderfully polite about setting their boundaries. A gentle sniff or little nose boop is all they’ll allow before quietly wandering off. They’re looking for a family who understands that love doesn’t always look like cuddles, and that earning the trust of a shy cat is one of life’s greatest rewards.

They would thrive in a calm, adult-only home where they can continue building their confidence together. They are looking for a home with access to a safe garden or cat-proofed outdoor space. They are happy to live with other friendly cats and have not been tested with dogs. They would love to stay together, continuing to support one another as they settle into their forever home.

If your heart belongs to the shy ones, Maverick and Riri are waiting to show you just how special quiet love can be. Sometimes the greatest reward isn’t a cat that loves you on day one, but one that chooses to trust you for life. ❤️

🦁 Meet Sir David Cattenborough 🦁

Handsome Sir David Cattenborough is an approximately 4-year-old domestic short-haired gentleman with a heart as big as his name.

Found as an unneutered stray, Sir David was microchipped, but sadly the chip wasn’t registered, meaning no owner could be traced. Now he’s looking for a forever family who will show him the love and security he deserves.

Life in a home is still quite new to Sir David, so he can be a little shy when meeting new people. Give him a little time, though, and you’ll soon discover what a wonderful boy he really is. Once he knows you’re a friend, he absolutely loves belly rubs, enjoys a little chat and will happily keep you company with his sweet, gentle nature.

Having spent time fending for himself, Sir David is still learning how to be a carefree house cat. Toys are a bit of a mystery to him at the moment, but we’re sure that with encouragement, patience and perhaps another friendly feline to show him the ropes, he’ll soon discover just how much fun they can be.

Although loud noises can still make him a little wary, he has adapted incredibly well to home life and his confidence grows every day. Watching him discover the comforts of a warm bed, regular meals and gentle affection has been a real privilege.

🐱 Male, approximately 4 years old
🐱 Domestic Short Hair
🐱 Happy to live with other friendly cats
👧 Not formally tested with younger children, but has been wonderful with an 11-year-old
🐶 Dogs not tested
🏡 Indoor home initially, with safe outdoor access once settled
💊 No known health issues
📍 Gravesend

Sir David has already come such a long way. Now all he needs is a family to help him write the next chapter of his story. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate companion who will reward your patience with love, Sir David Cattenborough could be the perfect addition to your home. ❤️

🐆 Meet Jenson 🐆

Handsome Jenson is a 6-year-old Bengal with a gentle heart who is looking for a calm, understanding home where he can truly flourish.

Jenson came into Animal Samaritans after being found as a stray. Although he was microchipped, sadly the details were out of date and, despite every effort, we were unable to trace his owner. Now he’s ready to leave his past behind and start a new chapter with a family who will love him forever.

When Jenson first meets new people or finds himself somewhere unfamiliar, he can be a little shy and unsure. He isn’t the sort of cat to rush into new situations, but with patience, kindness and a quiet environment, he gradually begins to relax and let his wonderful personality shine.

Once he feels safe, Jenson is a sweet, affectionate companion who enjoys spending time with his people. He loves interactive toys, especially spring toys, spinning toys and anything filled with catnip. After a good play session, he’s just as happy to find a quiet spot where he can relax and watch the world go by.

Jenson is a sensitive soul and can be startled by sudden movements or unexpected noises. Even something as simple as a plastic bag being opened can send him off to find a quieter place. Because of this, he would be happiest in a calm, predictable home where he can build trust at his own pace.

🐱 Male, 6 years old
🐱 Bengal
🐱 Happy to live with other cats
👧 Suitable for children aged 12+
🐶 Dogs not tested

Jenson doesn’t need much to be happy, just a patient family who will give him the time he needs to settle. In return, you’ll discover a gentle, loyal companion whose trust is worth waiting for. ❤️

🤍 Meet Marshmallow – Your Future Best Friend 🤍

Marshmallow is a truly special boy with the gentlest soul. He’s incredibly loving, affectionate and happiest when he’s snuggled up on a warm lap, soaking up all the fuss and cuddles you can offer. Once you’ve earned his trust, he’ll reward you with unwavering companionship and quiet devotion.

Like many cats, Marshmallow just needs a little time to settle into new surroundings. He’s looking for kind, patient and understanding adopters who will let him find his feet at his own pace. Once he feels safe, his sweet personality really shines.

Marshmallow dreams of a calm, adult-only home where life is peaceful and predictable. A safe, secure garden is also important, as he loves nothing more than stretching out in the sunshine and enjoying the fresh air.

When it’s mealtime, Marshmallow prefers to enjoy his food in peace and quiet. Once his meal has been put down, he’s happiest being left alone to eat at his own pace before returning for cuddles when he’s finished.

Marshmallow would like to be the only cat in the home, as he enjoys having all the attention to himself. He is not suitable to live with dogs.

All Marshmallow is asking for is a little patience, a cosy lap, sunny spots to snooze, and someone to love him for the wonderful cat he is. In return, you’ll gain a loyal, affectionate companion who will make your house feel like home.

Could you be the happy ending Marshmallow has been waiting for? 🤍

⚠️ Important information for anyone buying a puppy or kitten.

We’ve recently come across a case where a new owner was told their pet’s microchip had been “registered”. It had indeed been entered onto a website, but it had not been registered on a recognised UK microchip database.

This is an important difference.

When a vet, rescue, local authority or other professional scans a lost pet, the scanner only reads the unique microchip number. It does not display your contact details.

The microchip number is then used to identify which UK microchip database holds the owner’s details.

If the chip has not been registered on the correct UK database, or the details have not been transferred into the new owner’s name, the person scanning your pet may be unable to access the correct contact information. This can delay or even prevent a lost pet being reunited with its owner.

Most importantly, the legal responsibility rests with the keeper of the animal.

It is your responsibility to make sure your pet’s microchip is registered correctly and that your contact details are accurate and up to date.

Don’t assume that because a breeder, seller or previous owner tells you the chip is “registered”, everything has been done correctly. Check it yourself.

If you’ve recently bought a puppy or kitten:

🐾 Find out which UK microchip database the chip is registered with.
🐾 Check that you are recorded as the current keeper.
🐾 Make sure your address, telephone number and email address are correct.
🐾 Keep your details updated whenever they change.

A microchip is only effective if the information behind the chip number is correct. Taking five minutes to check today could make all the difference if your pet is ever lost.

Please share to help raise awareness and encourage responsible pet ownership.

Cute aren’t they? The issue is there are just too many out there 😞

Our discounted neutering scheme has been a massive success so far.

We have neutered and microchipped 64 cats with the help of the wonderful team at Pinebank Vets.

We ask for a £30 donation for this service but that means the charity still pays over £120 per cat.

For the 64 cats we have stopped breeding so far that has cost Animal Samaritans in excess of £7,500.

In contrast though this will have stopped countless kittens being born in unwanted litters and hundreds of pounds in vet bills from entire male cats fighting.

Please consider when you get an animal, it’s not just the cost of buying them and buying new bowls and toys. Neutering is something you need to factor in and microchipping cats is now law.

We don’t means test our discount neutering as we believe that there are a lot of families who are not on benefits who also need help and also kind people who have stray cats that they want to help. This is why we limit the numbers on how many vouchers we release.

We will be advertising again when we have enough funds to launch the next set of vouchers.

If you can help us to continue to prevent more kittens please see the link below:
