🐾 Abraxos Needs a Very Special Home 🐾

Our gorgeous 3½ month old Maine C**n cross Abraxos is looking for his forever home.

Abraxos has made incredible progress since coming into our care, but he has ongoing medical needs which mean that his adoption requirements are very specific.

⚠️ PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING

Every requirement listed below is NON-NEGOTIABLE.

We will only consider an application if all of these requirements can be met.

❤️ Abraxos must be an indoor-only cat.

❤️ He must be rehomed as an only cat OR with another cat who also carries cat flu. Abraxos carries cat flu, although he isn’t currently experiencing a flare-up.

❤️ His new home must be within easy travelling distance of one of our partner vets. Animal Samaritans will continue to provide veterinary care and support for Abraxos, so living within reasonable travelling distance of one of our vets is essential.

❤️ His adopter must be able to manage his ongoing medical needs. Abraxos has a history of significant constipation which has required veterinary intervention. He currently requires daily medication to help manage this.

❤️ His bowel movements must be monitored closely. His new family will need to recognise changes in his toileting and seek veterinary advice promptly if there are concerns.

❤️ His eating and hydration must be monitored. Abraxos has previously been severely malnourished and can be a fussy eater. He needs a family who will make sure he is eating and drinking sufficiently.

❤️ His new family must be prepared for ongoing veterinary care. We don’t yet know whether some of his medical needs will improve as he gets older or whether he will require ongoing management throughout his life.

🏡 What we’re looking for

We need someone who genuinely understands that Abraxos is not a straightforward kitten adoption.

He needs a home where his health will be taken seriously, where his medication and toileting can be monitored, where veterinary advice will be sought when needed, and where Animal Samaritans can continue supporting his care.

These requirements are not negotiable and we will not make exceptions.

That may sound very strict, but Abraxos has already been through an awful lot in his short life. Our responsibility is to make absolutely certain that the home we choose is the right one for him, not simply the first home that falls in love with him.

And believe us, falling in love with him won’t be difficult. ❤️

Abraxos is an incredibly affectionate, friendly and confident little boy. He’s chatty, playful, loves cuddles, enjoys sitting on your shoulder and wants to be involved in absolutely everything you are doing.

He’s a very special little kitten.

Now we need to find a very special home that can meet every one of his needs. 🐾❤️

🐾 Meet Selma! ❤️

Selma is an approximately 1 year old DSH girl who is a lovely, affectionate little cat with plenty of personality. We believe Selma was a stray and had kittens, who are now being cared for by another fosterer. She came in via our vets with her sister and babies.

Selma absolutely loves her food and also enjoys playing, watching the world go by from the window and spending time with her people. She is a very affectionate girl who enjoys attention and companionship. ❤️

She’s a little timid when she first meets you, but give her some time, patience and space and she’ll gradually warm up and show you her lovely personality.

Selma enjoys playing with scrunchy toys and balls, so she’ll appreciate having plenty of toys to keep her entertained.

We haven’t yet tested Selma with children, dogs or other cats (but is fine with her sister), so these would need to be considered on an individual basis.

She is currently looking for an indoor home initially, with a view to eventually having outdoor access once she’s settled and ready. She can be rehomed with Patty or separately.

🐾 Meet Patty! ❤️

Patty is an approximately 1 year old DSH girl who came into rescue via one of our vet practices after being admitted as a stray alongside her sister, Selma and 3 kittens.

Can be adopted together or separately.

She’s a very playful young cat who enjoys keeping herself entertained and loves sitting by the window watching the world go by. 😻

Patty absolutely loves her scratching pad, so she’ll definitely appreciate having one available in her new home!

She can be a little wary when she first meets someone, but she warmed up very quickly once she realised she was safe. With a little patience and reassurance, Patty soon shows her playful and lovely personality.

We haven’t yet tested Patty with children, dogs or other cats (other than her sister), so these would need to be considered on an individual basis.

She is currently looking for an indoor home initially, with a view to eventually having outdoor access once she’s settled.

🐾 Meet Ralph! ❤️

Ralph is a 4 month old DSH boy who is a little nervous when he first meets you, but once he feels safe, his playful personality really comes out!

Ralph came into Animal Samaritans with his brothers, Millhouse and Nelson, after they were found as strays. Since coming into our care, the boys have been microchipped, neutered and vaccinated and are now ready to find their forever homes.

Ralph can take a few days to come out of his shell, but a little patience and plenty of Lick-e-Lix treats soon help him realise that everything is going to be okay! 😋❤️

Once he’s comfortable, Ralph is a very playful little boy. He loves spring toys, balls, tunnels and feather wand toys, so he’ll need plenty of opportunities to play and burn off all that kitten energy.

Ralph will need a family who can give him a little time to settle at first, but once he’s comfortable, he’ll be an absolutely lovely little companion.

Ralph can be rehomed with Nelson or Millhouse, and as Nelson needs another cat for reassurance, the two brothers could make a lovely pair.

He can live with children aged 12+, other cats and cat-friendly dogs.

🐾 Meet Nelson! ❤️

Nelson is a 4 month old DSH boy who may take a little time to show you just how lovely he is. He came into Animal Samaritans with his brothers, Millhouse and Ralph, after they were found as strays.

Since coming into our care, the boys have been microchipped, neutered and vaccinated and are now looking for their forever homes.

Nelson is nervous when he first meets you and can take around a week to become comfortable in a new environment. He likes to find a safe little hiding place, whether that’s under a drawer, inside a cosy hidey bed or even under the pillows! ❤️

But once Nelson feels safe, you’ll see a very different boy. He becomes playful, loving and full of kitten energy. He loves racing around tunnels with his brothers and playing with balls and springy toys.

He’s also partial to a Lick-e-Lix, although he’s a little stubborn at first! 😂

Nelson will need a family who understands that he needs patience and time to settle, but once he feels comfortable, he’ll reward you with his playful and loving personality.

Nelson needs to be rehomed with another cat, and ideally one of his brothers. He can be rehomed with Millhouse or Ralph.

He can live with children aged 12+, other cats and cat-friendly dogs.

🐾 Meet Millhouse! ❤️

Millhouse is a 4 month old DSH boy with a huge personality and an even bigger love for cuddles! He came into Animal Samaritans with his brothers, Nelson and Ralph, after they were found as strays.

Since coming into our care, the boys have been microchipped, neutered and vaccinated and are now looking for their forever homes.

Millhouse is a very friendly, confident and playful little boy who absolutely loves attention. He’s also our Chief Biscuit Maker, so if you’re looking for a cat who takes his biscuit-making duties seriously, Millhouse is your man! 😂❤️

He loves playing with his brothers in tunnels and enjoys balls, springy toys and feather wands. He’s also a huge fan of Lick-e-Lix and will quite happily push his brothers out of the way to make sure he gets his share! 😋

Millhouse is a very in-your-face loving little boy. He adores his people and will need someone who is prepared to love him just as much as he loves them. 🥰

Millhouse could be rehomed with Nelson or Ralph, and because he is such a confident boy, he could also potentially be rehomed on his own.

Tonight’s focus subject is cats are masters of hiding pain.

A little limp, a bit of hopping on one leg could be more than you think.

Little Nacho who belongs to one of our team, had a limp and X-rays showed he had hip dysplasia. This is a congenital condition that means that the ball and socket are not formed properly and the joint doesn’t move as it should do.

Nacho has now had a hip replacement and is on the road to a full recovery. Always make sure you get a check up at the vets if you think there is anything wrong with your cat, it may be nothing but they could be in pain without you knowing it.

🐾 Meet Shirley! ❤️

Shirley is a 1 year old DSH girl who has already been through a lot for such a young cat. She was found living under a bush with her kittens, alongside her son Vern.

Shirley was understandably nervous and shy when she first came into rescue, but her confidence is growing every day. She’s beginning to come out of her shell, running around, playing with toys and showing us the fun-loving, mischievous young cat underneath.

Her absolute favourite is her little pom-pom ball, which she proudly carries around before flicking her head and sending it flying! 😻

Shirley is a sensitive girl who will need a calm, patient and understanding home where she can settle at her own pace. She may hide initially, but with time and reassurance, we believe she’ll blossom into a wonderful companion.

Shirley could be rehomed with her son Vern, but equally, she could happily live as an only cat or with another friendly, calm feline companion.

She can live with children aged 12+ and is currently untested with dogs. Shirley can be indoor & outdoor.

🐾 Meet Vern! 💙

Vern is a 6 month old DSH boy with a big personality and even bigger energy! He came into rescue with his mum, Shirley, after they were found living under a bush.

Vern is a confident, playful and adventurous young boy who loves racing around the house, chasing toys and showing off his impressive zoomies. Playtime is definitely his favourite thing, and he’s always ready for his next adventure! 😻

He’s not particularly a lap cat and isn’t overly cuddly, but he really enjoys being around people and interacting through play. He’s the sort of cat who will keep you entertained with his antics and endless energy.

Vern absolutely loves interactive toys, especially ball-track toys and anything with spinning parts that he can chase, bat and play with for ages. He needs a home that can provide plenty of toys, enrichment and opportunities to burn off all that youthful energy!

He’s confident in new situations and isn’t easily fazed, making him a lovely, outgoing young cat.

Vern can live with children of all ages and is happy living with other cats. He could also be rehomed with his mum, Shirley, if the right home came along. He is currently untested with dogs.

As many of you will have seen, rescues are overwhelmed with kittens already this year.

As a result, Animal Samaritans are opening our hugely popular discounted neutering scheme for a limited time.

This offer is open to male and female cats now.

PLEASE NOTE: Will only be issuing vouchers for cats that are currently over 2kg. Please DO NOT apply if your kitten is currently under this weight.

We are doing this to try to limited any more cats getting pregnant and more kittens coming into rescues.

Neutering is a flat rate of £30 including microchip. As microchipping is now the law, this is non negotiable.

The scheme is ONLY available at our Vets in Maidstone, the voucher cannot be used at any other vets. Please make sure that you are able to get to Maidstone before you apply.
