AIMS is participating today in the NHS England Maternity and Neonatal Stakeholder Council, which remains in place in parallel with the new DHSC Taskforce/Expert Reference Group structures.

Our volunteers were able to help David support his partner by providing a detailed response in a timely manner to enable her to make informed choices and to reassure them both in a time of uncertainty. We are pleased to make a difference one phone call at a time.

This summer has seen a succession of depressingly regular announcements about new maternity service restrictions, not least those that impact on where the NHS will support us to labour and birth. These are rooted in longstanding dysfunction, and it's time for them to stop.

NICE guideline on Inducing Labour:
“Recognise that women can decide to proceed with, delay, decline or stop an induction. Respect the woman’s decision, even if healthcare professionals disagree with it, and do not allow personal views to influence the care they are given.”

AIMS has written to welcome Robbie Butler to his new role as Northern Ireland's Health Minister. AIMS is asking him to continue to support the continuity of carer model of care, to progress work with the maternity strategy and to consider why so many birthing suites remain closed.
