From sailing and paddlesports to band, adventure training and ceremonial drill, our cadets experience a huge range of opportunities thanks to you. Cadets do loads, from sailing, kayaking, windsurfing and band, to rock climbing and drill. Something for everyone.

What a way to celebrate 70 years of the Sea Cadets Physical Training Branch. 🎉

Over the weekend, cadets and volunteers from across the UK proudly passed out from the Sea Cadets Physical Training Qualifying Courses (SCCPTQ) 2026 at HMS Temeraire, Portsmouth.

Attended by Captain Sea Cadets, Captain Hannah MacKenzie VR RN, the Passing Out and Awards Ceremony recognised a week of hard work, resilience and achievement, culminating in qualification presentations, special awards and an impressive PT display.

As we mark 70 years of the PT Branch, we're celebrating the thousands of cadets and volunteers who have built confidence, resilience and leadership skills through physical training since 1956.

Congratulations to everyone who completed their courses and to the staff and volunteers who made the week such a success.

This issue features former sea cadet Daniel Heffy, now Executive Chef at the NORD restaurant in Liverpool. Daniel credits Sea Cadets with helping build the discipline, respect and maturity that have supported his career, and says the wide range of activities helped him discover his strengths and find his path.

⛵ The Tall Ships Races are underway!

Sea Cadets from across the UK are representing the UK aboard TS Royalist, forming one of the youngest crews in the entire international fleet as they take on Race 2 from Antwerp to Stavanger. An enthusiastic crew parade in the Netherlands has set the tone for an exciting voyage!

As Sea Cadets marks 60 years of competing in the Tall Ships Races, our cadets are putting their teamwork, leadership and resilience to the test on the international stage.

Armed Forces Week culminated in Armed Forces Day on Saturday, bringing communities together across the UK to honour those who serve, have served, and the families who support them.

Throughout the week, Sea Cadets proudly stood alongside the Armed Forces community. From local parades to national events, including the National Armed Forces National Event in Aldershot and Farnborough, cadets represented their communities with professionalism, confidence and pride.

Despite the heat, units nationwide showed outstanding resilience, teamwork and enthusiasm, reflecting the values that connect us to the Royal Navy and Armed Forces.

To every sea cadet and volunteer who took part, thank you. You did us proud.

TS Royalist takes centre stage! 🌊

We are proud to reveal that our flagship, TS Royalist, features in a new film created in collaboration with Ubisoft and Red Bull, ahead of the release of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced!

Historian and former sea cadet Dan Snow joined double Olympic champion and Red Bull SailGP captain Ruggero Tita on board for an unforgettable tall-ship adventure with our cadets.

From hauling sails to working as one ship’s company, the film captures the challenge, teamwork and sheer exhilaration of life at sea (for pirates)... and the extraordinary experiences Sea Cadets offers young people.

Sea Cadets is proud to share that a trustee and volunteers have been recognised in His Majesty The King’s Birthday Honours for their outstanding service to young people, their communities and the wider cadet movement.

Jeremy Penn, Chair of Marine Society & Sea Cadets (pictured), and Lieutenant (SCC) Joshua McDermott RNR have both been awarded MBEs for their leadership in strengthening opportunities for cadets and driving exceptional growth and standards within the Corps.

Ruth Verner, Area Chair Northern, has been awarded a BEM for her long‑standing service to her community and the cadet movement.

Lt Cdr (SCC) William Elliott RNR, West Wales District Officer, has also received a Commendation from the First Sea Lord in recognition of his leadership and commitment to the Sea Cadet Corps.

These honours reflect the dedication of Sea Cadets volunteers in creating life‑changing opportunities for young people.

Sea Cadets stepped aboard HMS Belfast for at the weekend and discovered that history isn’t something you just read… it’s something you experience.

Guided by IWM volunteer Ngaire Bushell and joined by former Sea Cadet and Royal Navy submariner Mike Allen, cadets explored life at sea through real stories and lived experience - a fitting end to Volunteers’ Week 2026. Through a self-portrait activity, cadets also explored who they are, what they’ve experienced, and where they could go next.

Moments like this don’t happen without volunteers - from those who preserve history to those who build confidence in young people every week. As the marks the end of Volunteers’ Week, it’s a reminder that volunteering doesn’t stop here, it happens 365 days a year.
