Captain Sea Cadets, Captain Hannah MacKenzie VR RN has a message for our dedicated volunteers:

"As we celebrate Volunteers’ Week 2026, it’s the perfect time for me to reflect on the incredible volunteer-led outcomes and achievements I’ve witnessed during my first six months as Captain Sea Cadets. Firstly, thank you to all the amazing command teams, instructors and trustees who have welcomed me into their units during my travels so far. Your passion and dedication has been truly inspirational – and I know that your hard work and positive impact is being replicated in units across the UK.

To every single one of our volunteers: I am absolutely humbled by the effort and commitment you show, week after week, rain or shine. The way you always put your cadets first; your pride in seeing them achieve their potential; and the support you show to your colleagues – that is the bedrock of the Sea Cadets family, and I am so honoured to be your Captain. Because of you, our young people are gaining the confidence, resilience and strong values they'll need to be the leaders (and volunteers) of the future! On behalf of everyone at MSSC, I offer my deepest thanks. BZ!"

For Volunteers’ Week 2026, we’d like to say thank you to all our incredible volunteers.

We are incredibly grateful for the time, commitment and passion you give to Sea Cadets every week.

Whether you’re instructing, supporting your unit behind the scenes, or helping cadets take part in new opportunities, you are making a real and lasting difference to young people’s lives.

As one parent shared recently, “it’s helped bring out the best in my children - we’re very grateful.”

On behalf of our cadets, thank you for your dedication, time and inspiration 💙

Sea Cadets Celebrating Gold at Buckingham Palace

A huge congratulations to everyone who received their Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award at a reception at Buckingham Palace yesterday, with the Duke in attendance.

The event brought together 32 cadets, volunteers and former cadets to celebrate achieving this prestigious honour, with the afternoon rain failing to dampen spirits!

Since 1956, millions have taken on the DofE challenge: building confidence, resilience and skills that last a lifetime.

This is an incredible accomplishment, reflecting months of dedication, resilience and determination. From volunteering in their communities and taking on physical challenges, to developing new skills and completing expeditions, our cadets have shown outstanding commitment every step of the way.

We are immensely proud to see them recognised at such a special event, celebrating alongside young people from across the UK.

Well done to every Gold Award holder – a truly fantastic milestone and just the beginning of what’s to come.

A fantastic week at Woolwich Barracks last week for our Sea Cadets and volunteers who took part in the 2026 Junior Leaders Field Gun Competition.

Held at the Royal Artillery Barracks, the event brings together young people aged 16–24 from across the Cadet Forces, Armed Forces, apprenticeships and colleges, challenging them to build resilience, leadership, discipline and teamwork.

Sea Cadets were represented both through their own team and by those selected to support the wider Royal Navy Cadet Forces (RNCF) crew.

A huge congratulations to all involved and to Sea Cadets who were part of the RNCF team that reached the final - an outstanding achievement.

Teamwork all the way.⚓

VE Day – We Remember

Today, on Victory in Europe Day, we remember the courage, sacrifice and resilience of those who served during the Second World War.

Eighty one years on, we honour not only those who secured peace in 1945, but also the families and communities who stood alongside them through extraordinary times.

At Sea Cadets, we are proud to carry forward their legacy, instilling values of teamwork, respect, discipline and service in the next generation.

We will remember them.
