Cathy has shared her sarcoidosis story with us 📣

After a suspected brain tumour, Cathy was diagnosed with sarcoidosis and prescribed steroids just before the COVID-19 lockdown. Her sarcoidosis affects her left eye, lungs and skin and she said:

"My biggest frustration is the lack of understanding both in life generally but particularly in the medical profession of this disease and I am grateful for all the charity does to promote awareness."

has a simple but urgent message: access delayed is potentially access denied 🧠

Our 2025 Research Innovation award was granted to Dr Claire Rice and her team at the University of Bristol who are looking at less invasive ways to diagnose neurosarcoidosis using tears.

We are hoping that this grant of £59,992 will help to improve the diagnosis of neurosarcoidosis in patients, leading to earlier diagnosis and access to treatment. You can watch a video with Dr Claire Rice explaining her research: https://www.sarcoidosisuk.org/research-innovation-award-2025-awarded/

To help us to continue to fund vital sarcoidosis research and provide support to sarcoidosis patients, please consider making a donation to our work: https://www.sarcoidosisuk.org/donate/donate-to-sarcoidosisuk/

Today is 🧠

Sarcoidosis affects the nervous system in 5% to 15% of all patients (neurosarcoidosis). Neurosarcoidosis is therefore uncommon but can be severe. Symptoms, diagnosis and treatment options all depend on which part of the nervous system is inflamed.

Share these infographics to help raise awareness of some of the symptoms associated with neurosarcoidosis this World Brain Day!
