A new video is available https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RM3Z1lIvMqc to support people with a learning disability through their Lung Cancer Screening appointments.
University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which provides the Lung Cancer Screening service in North Central London, has collaborated with North Central London Cancer Alliance, Camden Learning Disabilities Services and Islington Learning Disabilities Partnership to develop a video that takes a screening participant with lived experience through each step. This includes explaining the reasonable adjustments offered.
The aim is to prepare a person for their screening appointment and to reassure them that they will be supported along the way. Invitations for Lung Cancer Screening are sent by post to people aged 55-74. Those with a smoking history are mostly likely to be offered a low dose CT scan.
