“ITS TIME WE MAKE REAL CHANGE 💯”

The Glasshouse is this how you treat Travellers ?

This is the manager Miko, who stated it was for residents only. As many of you saw in the first video, the first question I was asked was, “Do you have a room?” I was then told that only residents could be served, so my family and I were refused.

I decided to speak to people who were already sitting in the bar. The very first people I asked told me they were not residents and were not staying in the hotel.

So I ask you all: if non-residents were being served, why were we refused?

From my experience, this was deeply upsetting. No family should feel they are being treated differently when all they want is to enjoy a meal or a drink together.

What do you think? Does this seem fair? Should businesses be allowed to operate like this if the same rule is not being applied equally to everyone?

Part 1 - The Glasshouse Hotel Sligo

Christmas time, myself and three family members visited The Glass House Hotel in Sligo. After arriving, we were told downstairs that we could go upstairs for a drink.

When we went upstairs, a manager named Miko approached us. As soon as he realised we were Travellers, he asked us, “What room are you in?” and “Are you residents?” I replied that my wife was booked a room and believed it was room 101, although I later realised I had the room number wrong.

Since then, I have looked into the hotel’s policy and also spoke to senior management this morning. I was informed that the bar is open to the public and is not for residents only. That raises serious questions about why we were challenged in the first place.

In my opinion, this is an excuse that Travellers hear time and time again. Businesses know they cannot simply say they will not serve Travellers, so other reasons are often given instead—such as asking if you’re a resident, whether you’re a member or even saying, “Not tonight, lads.”

If someone causes trouble, then by all means deal with that individual. But don’t treat an entire community as though they are all the same. That is Discrimination.

From speaking to many local Travellers, I believe this is not an isolated incident. Many feel they have been unfairly refused service in establishments across Sligo. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and judged by their own behaviour, not by their background.

I’d like to say a big thank you to my mate Sean O’Neill, who took the time last week to drive through Appleby before the fair even started and speak directly with local establishments.

As you can clearly see in the Black Bull, these managers actually want to open their doors and serve the Traveller community fairly and respectfully. But yet again, they are being pressured and advised by the police to shut down during Appleby Fair.

This is an absolute joke. These are newly owned businesses that understand the amount of trade and revenue they would bring in during that week at Appleby thousands of pounds being taken away from them because they are effectively being told to close three days before the fair starts and remain shut until three days after it finishes.

So for the entire duration of Appleby, this bar will be closed. How is this fair? How is this acceptable in 2026?

This is shocking. Totally shocking.

There’s a lot more videos and evidence going to be posted about this. People need to see exactly what’s happening behind closed doors.

I would really like to say thank you to this man for taking the time to speak the truth and expose what he witnessed firsthand.

He was allegedly told he could not open a business because it would “attract Gypsies.” Let that sink in.

Imagine for one second if those words were said about Jews, Black people, Asians, the LGBTQ+ community, or any other ethnic or minority group. There would quite rightly be outrage across the country.

This is the reality our Gypsy and Traveller community still faces in 2026. Open discrimination. Open prejudice. Open stereotyping.

Thank you again for having the courage to speak up. The video is shocking, and it shows exactly why our community continues fighting for equality, respect, and basic human dignity.

Enough is enough.

🚨 APPLEBY FAIR 2026 🚨

Yet again, Gypsies and Travellers are being treated differently.

Cumbria Police have now introduced facial recognition cameras during Appleby Fair cameras that are not permanently there all year round, but suddenly appear when thousands of Traveller families arrive for two weeks.

So people are asking a fair question:

Why is extra surveillance brought in only when Gypsies and Travellers gather?

Nobody is saying police should not deal with crime. If someone is wanted for offences, deal with them through the proper process. But entire communities should not feel like they are being watched, labelled and targeted simply for attending a cultural gathering with their families.

Appleby Fair is part of Traveller history and tradition. Men, women and children attend from across the country to meet family, trade horses and continue a way of life that has existed for generations.

Yet every year the same issues remain:
• discrimination in pubs
• refusal from hotels
• negative headlines
• over-policing and stereotyping

Now facial recognition cameras.

People have a right to question whether this is proportionate and fair.

Would the same level of surveillance be accepted at every other cultural gathering in Britain?

We hope every family attending Appleby has a safe and enjoyable week. But communities also deserve respect, fairness and equal treatment under the law.

What’s your opinion people? Fair policing or unfair targeting? 🤔

Sky News Speaks to a Member of GT Walse Dooleys Liz about what today means to the community this just shows that our women have had enough and are demanding change from the government.

It is embarrassing, shameful and degrading going into an establishment with your family, your friends and your children, only to be turned away for something you have not done and are treated like we are all the one with the same excuses we had issues with your people before or where fully booked when the place is empty.

This proves to people that this is not “one or two incidents” this is a wider problem within the system itself. Our women, our children and our community have simply had enough of being treated differently.

We can no longer keep allowing this to happen. The government must be held accountable and there has to be answers. If this was happening to any other community, we all know the reaction would be very different. But when it comes to Gypsies and Travellers, too many seem willing to turn a blind eye. Enough is enough.

Sky News interviews Paddy Doherty Site at the time of the Manchester protest after Mulligan’s Bar refused Travellers entry.

As Paddy clearly says, he was born and bred in Manchester. Yet a man born in his own city feels like he has no rights in it. Think about that for a second.

Paddy also makes the point that if this was happening to foreigners arriving by dinghy boats, there would be outrage if pubs, restaurants, or hotels refused them entry. But when it happens to Gypsies and Travellers, too many people stay silent.

What is this world really coming to?

Big respect to Paddy as well for speaking the truth. He clearly says that every single one of us Gypsies and Travellers are equal. No one is better than anyone else, no matter what status or money they have. We are all the same at the end of the day.

Sky News interviews Tommy Joyce

Manchester protest after Mulligan’s Bar refused to serve five Travellers.

But let’s be honest this is not just happening at Mulligan’s Bar. This is happening across the country, time and time again. Tommy speaks up about the discrimination many Travellers face daily.

Please take a watch, listen carefully, and give it a share. The more noise we make, the more awareness we can bring. And with awareness comes support, accountability, and hopefully real change.

23/05/2026

This is absolutely devastating and sickening to see.

A Local doctor — a man who is meant to care for people arrived at around half 10 at night wearing a balaclava and carrying a knife. he sliced through fencing and cut through a family’s padlock. These families are not criminals. These are families with children who have sadly been left with nowhere to live because councils, who are meant to provide sites and homes, continue failing Traveller families time and time again.

Family members put together money between themselves just to buy a piece of land so they could finally try to create a safe home and bit of stability.

What is terrifying people even more is hearing that the man arrested was reportedly released the very next morning with no further action. People are asking: how can this possibly be right?

Because let’s be honest if the roles were reversed, and Traveller man turned up at a doctor’s home late at night wearing balaclavas and carrying weapons, there would be outrage across the country. They would likely be facing the full weight of the law, serious charges, and the harshest end of sentencing guidelines.

Families are frightened. Only last month there was an arson attack in Aylesbury, and now another frightening incident just weeks later. People are scared about what comes next.

This cannot keep being brushed aside. There must be fairness, accountability, and equal treatment under the law for everybody.

Thames Valley Police people will not simply forget about this case.
