USA UNIVERSITY STUDENTS LEARN TO HELP BIRDS. 🇺🇸🕊️

University students studying in the United States reached out to London Pigeon Rescue because they wanted to learn about our organisation— to understand how we rescue, protect and care for birds in need.

We were more than happy to meet with them. ❤️

We believe that education is not only about books and classrooms. Sometimes, the most important lessons are learned by looking into the eyes of a vulnerable animal and understanding that its life matters too. 🥹🕊️

We spent time teaching the students how to safely approach and catch birds, how to recognise stringfoot injuries, how to provide appropriate medical care, and how to protect these beautiful creatures from further suffering.

They asked great questions and listened attentively. Then they experienced the joy of helping birds with their own hands. ❤️

Watching their faces light up as they met and gently cared for the birds was incredibly touching.

On that day, the students learned how to help a pigeon.

But we all learned something much bigger:

Compassion has no borders. 🌎❤️

Our hope is that when young people learn to care for animals at an early age, that compassion stays with them for life — wherever their future takes them.

FIFTEEN MINUTES THAT SAVED CHARLIE’S LIFE. 🥹🕊️

A visitor from Canada spotted a pigeon in trouble —and refused to walk away.

She contacted London Pigeon Rescue.

We rushed to the location, but darkness had fallen. We couldn’t find the little one.

Returning the next morning, we spotted Charlie.

A thin, strong thread was tightly wrapped around both of her feet, tying them together. She could barely walk. Every step was painful. 💔

We were able to gently catch Charlie, and carefully remove the thread.

Just fifteen minutes later, Charlie’s feet—and her life—were saved. ❤️

Without urgent help, she would have lost her toes or suffered a serious infection. She could also have died by becoming trapped somewhere, or by not having enough mobility to find food.

Fifteen minutes of rescue.
A lifetime of difference.

We named her Charlie after the kind person who refused to ignore her suffering.

One person noticed.
One person cared.
One message brought help.
One little bird got another chance. 🕊️

🕊️ EDITH — A LITTLE BIRD WITH THE COURAGE OF A HERO ❤️

We named this brave little pigeon Edith, after Edith Cavell, the British nurse remembered for caring for wounded soldiers on both sides without discrimination during the First World War.

Our Edith also needed someone to care for her.

A friend contacted us about a severely injured bird who could not walk.

Several people had already tried to catch her, but she was terrified.

We searched once.
Then twice.
Then three more times.

Finally, we found her.

She was dragging herself along with her wings.
Her wings were covered in mud and muck.

And then we saw her feet…

💔 Both feet were trapped inside a painful steel/iron mesh.

She must have been suffering terribly.

We carefully caught her and spent almost two hours freeing her from the metal mesh and cleaning and treating her wounds.

Then Edith disappeared.

For three and a half months, we could not find her.

Until one day…

Edith came back. ❤️

Her wounds had completely healed.

And she was walking beautifully again. 🥹🕊️

She had lost some of her toes, but she had never lost her courage.

Just like the Edith she was named after, she became a symbol of courage, compassion and hope.

We believe the person who first reported her would be incredibly happy to see Edith walking again.

But there are still countless birds suffering like her.

We cannot save them alone.

NINE FAILED RESCUES. ONE LIFE SAVED. 🕊️

Jo was running for her life—but every step brought fresh pain.

Strings had cut deeply into her foot, making it agonizing to move. Terrified of people, she fled whenever we came near.

Nine times, we tried to rescue her.

Nine times, Jo escaped—still carrying the string, still suffering, and still waiting for someone to reach her.

It would have been easy to give up. But we knew Jo was still out there, living with pain every day.

So we returned for a tenth attempt.

This time, we rescued her. ❤️

Removing the threads took nearly an hour and a half. Two toes had already been lost, and the remaining damage was severe.

We cleaned her wounds, provided medical care, and released her.

But Jo’s story did not end there.

We kept watching over her, hoping that her body—and her spirit—would begin to heal.

Two weeks later, everything had changed.

Jo was walking beautifully again. 🕊️

The bird who had once fled in fear was finally moving freely, without the string holding her back.

And then came the happiest news:

Jo had found a partner. ❤️

After so much pain, fear, and uncertainty, she had a second chance at a happy life.

From suffering to freedom.
From repeated escapes to recovery.
From being alone to finding companionship.

DAN CAN WALK AGAIN

Dan was suffering terribly… 💔

Both his little feet were tightly wrapped in dangerous strings.

He could barely walk.
Every step was painful. 😢

But we refused to give up on him. ❤️‍🩹

We carefully freed his legs, treated his wounds and gave him the care he desperately needed.

Then, day by day, something beautiful happened…

Dan started walking more easily. 🥹❤️

His wounds healed.
His little feet became stronger.

And now…

Dan is walking freely and happily living his life again. 🕊️❤️

Back with his friends.
Back where he belongs.

He Had Just Learned to Fly… Then This Happened 💔
A family visiting London Bridge noticed a young pigeon in distress.

He was hopping helplessly…
He could barely walk. 💔

They sent us a video.

Our hearts broke.

This little baby had only just begun exploring the world, searching for food and learning to stand on his own two feet…

But human hair had tightly wrapped around both his legs.

He was trapped in pain. 😢

Without help, he could have become too weak to find food, become caught in branches, or simply starved.

So we rushed to find him.

We waited…
We searched…
Until finally, we saw him.

Hopping. Trembling. Struggling.

We caught him gently.

We removed the hair.
Cleaned and treated his wounds.
Gave him food and strength. ❤️

Just 15 minutes.

15 minutes that may have saved his life.

Then we watched him return to the world… with a chance to live. 🕊️❤️

BARRY’S SIX MONTHS OF PAIN — AND HER MIRACLE RETURN TO WALKING ❤️

London,Kensal Green,Barry had been suffering with stringfoot for more than six months.

Human hair had become tightly wrapped around both of her legs, tying them together and causing terrible pain.

Her wounds had become infected.

She could barely move.

She couldn’t walk.

For more than six months, Barry had been living with pain that no bird should ever have to endure.

Yet she kept going.

And her mate never abandoned her. He stayed beside her, protected her and remained close to her.

When we received the videos, our hearts broke.

We rushed to rescue her.

The rescue took around one and a half hours because the human hair was deeply and tightly wrapped around her legs.

We carefully removed it and provided Barry with the medical care she desperately needed.

Then came the recovery.

We didn’t simply release her and walk away.

We waited. We cared. We watched her heal.

After 10 days, Barry’s wounds had fully healed.

And then something beautiful happened…

Barry started walking normally again. 🥹🕊️❤️

The bird who had once been unable to walk…

The bird who had suffered for more than six months…

The bird whose legs had been tied together by human hair…

was walking like a normal bird again.

That moment was unforgettable.

From six months of agony…

to freedom.

From infection…

to healing.

From being unable to walk…

to walking freely again. ❤️

Barry was finally freedom.

She flew away with a second chance at life.

This is why we rescue.

This is why we don’t give up.

We Didn’t Just Teach Someone… We Helped Create Another Angel for the Birds. ❤️

Today, our hearts are full.

A compassionate friend reached out to learn how to help birds suffering from stringfoot.

She waited patiently for her training day.

When it arrived, she was understandably nervous. But with gentle guidance, her knowledge and confidence grew quickly.

Soon, she was gently catching injured birds, carefully removing the dangerous threads, giving lifesaving treatment, and releasing them back into the sky.

There is nothing more meaningful than watching someone realise they can end suffering and give life back to a helpless creature.

A new compassionate rescuer is now out in the world, ready to help birds who have no voice and nowhere else to turn.

This is how hope grows.

Human Hair Tied His Legs Together… We Refused to Let Him Die.

WILLIAM MORRIS’S SECOND CHANCE

William Morris was found near Hammersmith Station with human hair wrapped tightly around both of his legs. He couldn’t walk, had already lost one toe, and his remaining toes were at risk.

After several days of searching, we finally rescued him.

Our expert rescuer spent an hour and a half carefully removing every strand of hair, treating his wounds, and saving his remaining toes.

She released William Morris with a loving kiss, a gentle hug, and a blessing.

Three days later, he could walk again. Two weeks later, he was placing his foot down properly. One month later, he was happily walking and eating with his flock.
