National Day for Victims and Survivors of Terrorism

Today, we remember those who have lost their lives through terrorism and stand with the victims, survivors, families and communities whose lives have been changed forever.

This year marks the UK’s first National Day for Victims and Survivors of Terrorism.

It is a day for remembrance, recognition and solidarity. It is also an opportunity to raise awareness of the specialist support available and the role we all play in keeping our communities safe.

If you see or hear something that does not feel right, trust your instincts and report it. You do not need to be certain before sharing a concern.

For possible terrorist activity, contact Action Counters Terrorism online or call the Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 321.

For concerns about someone who may be vulnerable to radicalisation, ACT Early offers confidential guidance and support.

In an emergency or where there is an immediate danger, always call 999.

We remember those affected.
We support those living with the impact.

£350 Worth of Goods Recovered in Nottingham

Your It's in Nottingham Bobbies responded after a retail store reported two males concealing goods.

The team attended and positioned themselves outside the store to prevent the suspects from leaving the area.

Both males were detained after exiting the store and escorted back to the holding room.

Nottinghamshire Police attended and dealt with the incident through Community Resolution, alongside a drug rehabilitation referral.

£350 worth of goods were recovered and returned to the store.

A strong result showing fast response, teamwork and close partnership working with retailers and police.

Rob’s preparation is not stopping at the gym.

He has been sitting down with the Trailwalker maps and event guide to plan out the 100km route in detail.

He has been working through the checkpoints, distances, timings and terrain so he knows what to expect before the team reaches the start line.

For a challenge of this length, preparation matters as much as fitness.

Understanding the route now will help with pacing, planning breaks and knowing where the toughest sections are likely to come.

With the training miles building and the route now mapped out, Rob is getting himself ready for every part of the challenge.

Partnership Working Across the Heart of London

Your Heart of London Business Alliance Bobbies and BID Security Manager Pete recently joined a coordinated operation alongside Westminster City Council, the Metropolitan Police and Immigration Enforcement.

The operation focused on cycle safety, street-based anti-social behaviour, safeguarding, business engagement and wider public safety across the area.

Results from the operation included:
• 1 immigration arrest
• 8 immigration checks
• 2 Community Protection Warnings issued for begging
• 1 Fixed Penalty Notice issued for breach of the Pedicab Public Space Protection Order
• 2 Fixed Penalty Notices issued for dangerously parked bikes
• 1 portable stereo, 1 microphone and 8 cones seized from unlicensed street performers, with the matter progressing towards prosecution
• 27 verbal warnings issued to individuals cycling on the highway
• 2 welfare checks completed, with referrals made to support services
• 1 engagement with a Big Issue vendor
• 16 business engagements, including crime prevention advice
• 4 youth engagements, also focused on crime prevention
• 1 safeguarding report submitted
• 1 intelligence report submitted following an incident involving children at a cinema
• 1 missing male located safe and well
• 1 drugs sweep completed, with a negative result

A strong example of coordinated enforcement, engagement and safeguarding across the Heart of London.

Working together means better intelligence, stronger visibility and more support for businesses and the public.

Another round Trailwalker training in the bag!

Cameron got the miles in with an 8.7 mile hike, spending 3 hours and 44 minutes on his feet and climbing 475ft along the way.

He kept an average pace of 2.7mph, giving him another solid endurance session ahead of the 100km challenge in September.

Amadu took a different approach to his training, getting on the bike for his own cardio session and continuing to build his fitness for the event.

Different training. Same goal.

Both will be part of our four-person walking team taking on the Gurkha Trailwalker in support of The Gurkha Welfare Trust.

Romford BID Bobbies Respond to Retail Theft

Your Romford BID Bobbies, Wayne and Muhammad, responded after spotting a theft in progress at a town centre retail stall.

The team identified a juvenile suspect taking multiple items before attempting to leave the area.

Wayne and Muhammad acted quickly, detained the suspect and recovered the stolen goods with support from shopping centre security.

Two further individuals linked to the incident were also brought back to the holding room, where police later attended and carried out checks.

£95 worth of goods were confirmed as stolen and recovered.

Three banning orders were issued by the shopping centre.

What started with an original target of £1,000 has grown into something far bigger.

A great day in Stratford-upon-Avon!

This weekend, our Head of Culture, Lindsay, joined our Regional Supervisor Rob and the Stratford Upon Avon Business Improvement District Bobbies at the Community Engagement Day, bringing together the organisations working to help keep the town safe, welcoming and supported.

It was a great opportunity to speak directly with the community, answer questions and share more about the work our Bobbies carry out across Stratford-upon-Avon every day!

It was also fantastic to see Warwickshire Police, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, Neighbourhood Watch and Stratford Youth Collective all there supporting the event.

One of the highlights was seeing so many Bobby Bear stickers around the event, with younger visitors also getting involved by colouring in their own Bobby Bear!

A brilliant day of community engagement, partnership working and conversations with the people who live, work and visit Stratford-upon-Avon!

Michael put the planning into practice this weekend.

As part of his preparation for the Gurkha Trailwalker, Michael headed out on his own personal training hike, joined by his loyal companion, Bruno.

Together they covered 13.22 miles in 4 hours and 52 minutes, maintaining an average pace of 2.7mph.

The route also came with a few unexpected moments.

Michael spotted four rams who decided to follow him for part of the walk, while Bruno had his own excitement after spotting a rather large rabbit.

For Michael, these longer hikes are an important part of preparing for the 100km challenge. They help him work on pacing, endurance and spending several hours on his feet before event weekend.

Michael has already said one of his biggest challenges will be managing the pain as the distance builds, so sessions like this give him a better idea of how his body responds over longer distances.

A strong weekend of preparation, with some unexpected company along the way.
