Lincoln Mystery Plays - reviving the past
We are a charity that exists to keep alive these little-known gems from the past.

Loosely based on bible stories, we perform these medieval plays in modern translation while sustaining their wit and wonder

Final Call for our showcase of new writing on an aspect of Lincolnshire history or heritage.

The deadline for submission is Saturday 24th January.

In a special New Writers Showcase event in April 2026, we will include 3 or 4 plays of local heritage/historical interest each lasting approximately 20 to 30 minutes.

Calling all budding playwrights
The Lincoln Mystery Plays Trust would like to offer you the opportunity to submit a one act play on a topic or setting of local cultural heritage for consideration for performance in 2026.

MEDIEVAL NATIVITY 2025 AUDITIONS!
A read through and auditions for our 2025 Medieval Nativity are coming up very soon.
Read through: Sunday 12th October, 1-30pm at St Giles Church Auditions: Tuesday 14th October, 7-30pm, at St Mary Magdalene's Church, Lincoln.
If you are interested in participating in our next Lincoln Mystery Plays performances this Christmas, please come along! Whether you're experienced or new to acting, you will be most welcome.

Calling any budding or experienced directors amongst our many Lincoln Mystery Plays supporters and participants:
Following our very successful Medieval Nativity Plays over the last couple of years, the Lincoln Mystery Plays Trust Board would like to open up the opportunity for people to apply to direct or co-direct our next Nativity Play, in December 2025.
We aim to be inclusive and provide opportunities for people to participate in a range of ways with our Mystery Plays and we make this offer in this spirit.

It is with great sadness that I have to let you know about the passing of Irene North - for so many years an active, vibrant actor with the Lincoln Mystery Plays as well as with many other local drama groups.
Such a wonderful human being who left a positive mark on everyone who met her. She truly loved and lived life to the full and always with style, vivacity and kindness. She will be so greatly missed ❤️

Medieval Ballads of Robyn Hode coming soon!

Performances last for approximately an hour – No ticket required

Tales of outlaws have captured human imagination for centuries, none more so than the legendary Robyn Hode. Our little-known Medieval Ballads of Robyn Hode will entertain and enchant you with their portrayal of these stories - both comic and macabre, sinister and cerebral.
Accompanied by the medieval instruments of the Lincoln Mystery Players, the ballads sing of hungry outlaws, destitute knights, luckless clerics and an exasperated King who will fall foul of his capers.
A violent criminal, loyal to his friends, antagonistic to authority and utterly brutal to his enemies – this is not the hero you know!

The Lincoln Mystery Plays Medieval Ballads of Robyn Hode is performed as part of the University of Lincoln’s Medieval History Week 2025.
