We’ve got some funding news!

We’re pleased to have received £400 from Skipton Building Society through their Community Giving scheme.

A huge thank you to Skipton Building Society and its members for supporting SoundLincs.

The funding will contribute towards our wider work as a charity, helping us continue to deliver music-based opportunities and support for people and communities across Lincolnshire.

Core funding like this makes a real difference to charities. It provides flexible support that helps with the wider costs of running an organisation and continuing the work that matters.

We recently had the pleasure of visiting the SoundLincs offices to learn more about the fantastic work this local charity does, using music to engage, inspire and support a wide range of people across our communities.

We were delighted to meet Eddy Mentzel, CEO of SoundLincs, and the wider SoundLincs team, learning more about the valuable impact they have within the community.

We were also delighted to present SoundLincs with a cheque for £500, following a successful nomination via our Circle Health Group 'CHG in the Community' Grant Scheme for local charities, by our Physio Manager, Dawn.

From the UpBeat project to the Lincoln Cathedral!

We’re incredibly proud to share the story of the Farmers and Friends Choir, which began through SoundLincs’ UpBeat project in June last year.

What started as a SoundLincs project has grown into something of its own, with the choir becoming self-sustaining and continuing to bring people together through a shared love of singing.

On Sunday 11 October, the choir reached another fantastic milestone, performing at the iconic Lincoln Cathedral!

It’s brilliant to see how far the group has come and what can happen when people are given the opportunity to connect through music. The choir is a wonderful example of how music can bring people together, build lasting connections and create something that continues to grow beyond its beginnings.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved in the Farmers and Friends Choir. We’re delighted to have played a part in the group’s journey and can’t wait to see what comes next!

When she’s not working with SoundLincs, Emma is a singer, songwriter and musician, performing as E.R. Thorpe and with The Low Drift. She’s played gigs across the UK and even performed at Glastonbury!

In our first episode, Emma chats about her musical journey, her work at SoundLincs and how music can support mental health and wellbeing.

This World Mental Health Day, we're highlighting how music can support mental health and wellbeing.

“It's helping me a lot. It's helping me to concentrate and put my mind on something that I've always wanted to do, and it's taking my mind off of other things. It's helping me get away from the problems that I'm dealing with at the moment.”

This is a recent reflection from a participant in SoundLincs' Adult Social Prescription Service, showing what engaging with music can mean to someone experiencing challenges in their life.

Music can offer more than an enjoyable activity. It can provide a positive focus, encourage self-expression, create opportunities to build confidence and help people feel connected to others.

Through our Adult Social Prescription Service, we use personalised, music-based support to help adults explore their interests, work towards their goals and improve their wellbeing. Whether that's singing, songwriting, learning an instrument or making music with others, the focus is on the individual and what matters to them.

Everyone's experience of mental health is different, and support should reflect that.

A Christmas song made by the group, for the group.

As part of our Open Doors project, Emma has been working with participants at Sam’s Workplace in Nottinghamshire to create their very own Christmas song.

The sessions have included musical games, vocal warm-ups and plenty of creativity, with the group working together on lyrics, melodies, rhythms and ideas for the song.

Activities are adapted to suit different abilities, communication styles and confidence levels, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to contribute, express themselves and take part in music-making.

The group will be recording their song, which will be shared at Sam’s Workplace Santa’s grotto in December.

We’re looking forward to hearing what they’ve created together!
