SWEP has been activated for one night only (tonight 25th March} as per this info from council:

"This is to confirm that Severe Weather Emergency Protocols (SWEP) will be activated in both Eastbourne Borough Council and Lewes District Council tonight (25.3.26) for 1 night only.

Those who wish to request a placement under SWEP should make their approach to us as soon as possible, and before 4pm today.

Overnight SWEP accommodation will be provided in dormitory-style, shared accommodation at The Salvation Army.

SWEP accommodation is provided to those who would otherwise be rough sleeping in our area. As with any customer who approaches our service for support, emergency accommodation is considered an absolute last resort. We will explore any alternative options that may be appropriate, and support applicants to make short term arrangements with family and friends where this is appropriate. Those that do not have a local connection will be supported to reconnect with their former LA where it is safe to do so.

The Out of Hours Service can be contacted as follows:

Eastbourne 01323 410000

Lewes 01273 471600

If you have concerns about rough sleepers you believe are unknown to us, and need to be verified, these can also be flagged through Streetlink; https://www.streetlink.org.uk/. "

Welcome to StreetLink. Make an alert if you've seen someone sleeping rough, or if you're sleeping rough and want to find out about local support services.
