Shetland Young Promoters Group

Shetland Young Promoters Group Constituted group open to all young people aged 25 and under. The group is run by a committee of 14 to 25 year olds.

The group meets weekly, usually on a Saturday afternoon at Islesburgh Community Centre. SYPG are proudly supported by Shetland Arts Development Agency and Shetland Islands Council Youth Services.

🌟 WE'RE RECRUITING 🌟

Are you between the ages of 12-25? Do you want to help make our local arts scene more accessible to young people? 🎵 🎭 🎬

We are the Shetland Young Promoters Group (or SYPG) and we are a group of young people who put on events for young people. From gigs to theatre shows, workshops, and everything in between! 🤘

We meet in the Mareel Education Space on Fridays from 15:15 - 16:45, feel free to come along and meet us.

🎤 What is your name, what instrument do you play, and what course do you study?

My name is Andy Anderson, I sing and play piano, I'm studying nc music (part time)

🎤 Why did you choose to study the course?

I learned piano back in whalsay school which halted when I came to lerwick most of the time, then playing and wanting to learn resurfaced while I studied nc films at mareel, one of their lecturers might have prompted me to take up music but both my families were musical.

🎤 What kind of music do you like to listen to, and what kind of music do you play?

I listen to pop, country, some rock, some punk maybe and peerie amounts of other genres

🎤 Are you excited for the Student Night and why?

I'm excited to see the wide scaled variety that will be performing on the evening.
