We’ve been shopping!!

As we come to the end of the summer, we’ve had some wonderful days out at galas and fairs with our teddy tombola, it’s time to restock on Lions, as we start to think about Ch***s*ma* 🤫 🤦🏼‍♀️ don’t worry even though plans are well underway, we won’t start taking about it just yet 🦁🎄😂

This week, we were kindly gifted some brand new fleeces and t-shirts, we were then able to take them over to The Clothing Bank to be re-distributed to those who need them 🦁

Earlier in the year we were able to help The Prince of Wales Hospice….here’s a little thank you from them 🦁

I wanted to give you a little update on the donation that Garforth and District Lions Club - CIO very generously gave to The Prince of Wales Hospice earlier this year. Finally, we've been able to purchase both items that you helped us to fund, and they are now up and running in use in our Incare ward.

I've attached two photos - one of the Chair Scales with two of our healthcare assistants, and the Defibrillator, with two of our nurses. When we've been and asked them for a photo to send to you, they couldn't have been more pleased to oblige and wanted us to pass on their great appreciation for the Lions' support of The Hospice. You've made a big difference not only to our patients, but to the staff who work with this equipment and who are very glad of the new items!

Please pass on our gratitude to the rest of the Lions, and anytime they'd like to visit, we'd be glad to welcome them.

Another fantastic example of Lions Clubs International working together, Garforth and District Lions Club - CIO along with clubs from across Lions District 105N have been supporting Martin House Children's Hospice over the past few years and have been able to secure match funding grants from the wider organisation 🦁

We have had the pleasure of visiting the new developments and value everything this amazing place does for families when they need it the most 👏🏻

We are looking for a Young Ambassador!

Young Ambassador is a scheme that recognises a select number of exceptional young people (age 15-18) each year who have demonstrated an outstanding level of commitment to a not-for-profit organisation or for a local community project.

😁Do you know a young person who is volunteering and running their own project making a difference in our community?

👏We would like to celebrate them and put them forward to our Lions Young Ambassador Award where there is a possibility of winning a £500 bursary for their project!

It’s not just Garforth and District Lions Club - CIO that support Prostate Cancer UK, other Lions Clubs International clubs also run screening events and over the past year our district governor John Sellers and his wife nominated Prostate Cancer UK as their charity of the year, this weekend PDG John presented a cheque for £5,200 🦁 👏🏻

Today we were pleased to support our fellow lions in Filey Lions for their annual ball race, they even found Garforth and District Lions some jobs to help them out 🦁
