A huge congratulations to our Explorer Scout Young Leaders, Struan and Fraser, who received their Saltire Summit Award at last night’s Heart of the Community Awards, organised by Voluntary Action Angus.

The award recognises their outstanding contribution to our Scout Group. From supporting weekly Cub meetings and helping at camps to international trips. Both have been fundraising for our group since they were around 5 years old. They are always willing to lend a hand. Whether collecting Christmas trees, selling burgers and raffle tickets, or walking 20 miles at the Kiltwalk, their commitment and enthusiasm have made a real difference.

Our Beaver Scouts had an absolutely fantastic Thursday night exploring Caddam Woods on a bug‑hunting adventure. Armed with their magnifying pots and a huge dose of curiosity, the young people set off to discover what creepy crawlers were hiding beneath logs, leaves, and branches.

They found all sorts of mini‑beasts — from wriggly worms and speedy beetles to spiders, slugs, and a few mystery critters that sparked plenty of excited guesses. Every discovery was met with wide eyes, big smiles, and lots of questions as they examined their finds up close.

It was the perfect mix of fun, learning, and outdoor adventure, and the Beavers showed brilliant teamwork and enthusiasm throughout the night!

A massive thank you to Ailsa from Mini Professors Dundee for visiting us last night and running some absolutely amazing science experiments with our Beaver Scouts!

The young people had a brilliant time and learned loads, from watching water change colour on paper, to making mini lava lamps, to exploring different pH levels and seeing the colours shift right before their eyes.

But the grand finale? The exploding Mentos experiment , definitely the show‑stopper of the evening!

Huge thanks again, Ailsa, for bringing science to life in such a fun and memorable way. 🔬✨
