Yesterday we had our very own Disney day with guess that tune, a quiz and Mickey waffles for pudding!

Ed has very kindly been bringing us in bags of cooking apples, so of course we had to put them to good use!

We got busy in the kitchen and made our very own apple turnovers (with the help of Ron the baker) and a yummy apple flan 😋🥧

🚣‍♀️ A brilliant day on Forfar Loch! 💙

Yesterday we swapped dry land for the water and enjoyed a fantastic trip out on the skiff at Forfar Loch! 🌊🚣

It was such a lovely experience for our members, getting out on the loch, enjoying the fresh air, beautiful surroundings and, of course, plenty of laughs along the way! ❤️

A huge thank you to the wonderful volunteer skiffies who gave up their time to come along and row for us. You made everyone feel so welcome and safe and helped make the day such an enjoyable experience.

And an extra thank you for keeping us all going with plenty of teas and coffees back at the boathouse! ☕️🫖 We were very well looked after!

Days like this are exactly what Lochside Connections is all about — trying something different, staying active, making memories and showing that a dementia diagnosis doesn’t mean you have to stop enjoying new experiences. 💙

⛵ Skiff Trip Tomorrow! ⛵

Tomorrow our Tuesday members will be heading to Forfar Loch for a trip on the skiff! 💙

As we all know, Scottish weather can be a little unpredictable, so please make sure you bring a warm coat and suitable footwear for going out on the boat.

Taking a trip on the skiff is completely optional. If you’d prefer not to go out on the water, you’re more than welcome to relax and enjoy some time in the boathouse while the others are out on the skiff.

📍 Drop-off and pick-up will be at Strathmore Cricket Club as usual — we’ll take care of getting everyone to and from Forfar Loch.

We’re looking forward to a lovely day! ⛵🌊

🎶 Today is National Playlist Day! 🎶

We celebrated a little early yesterday with a special Playlist for Life session at Lochside Connections. ❤️

To mark the occasion, we’ve made a short video with some of our members sharing songs that mean something to them. It’s amazing how one piece of music can take us straight back to a person, a place, a special occasion or a particular time in our lives. 🎵💭

Playlist for life is all about creating a personal playlist made up of songs that have meaning to you. It isn’t simply a collection of favourite songs — it can include music connected to childhood, family, relationships, holidays, celebrations, work, dancing or other important memories.

For someone living with dementia, personally meaningful music can be incredibly powerful. It can help spark memories, encourage conversation, lift mood, reduce anxiety and create moments of connection with family, friends and carers. Sometimes a song can reach a memory or feeling when words are a little harder to find. 💙

Lochside Connections is proud to be a Playlist for Life Support Hub, and we love helping our members and families discover the music that forms the soundtrack to their lives.

Things got a little competitive at Lochside Connections last week! 😂🎈

First up was our balloon game, which definitely brought out everyone’s competitive side… but that was nothing compared to our general knowledge quiz! 🧠🏆

Poor volunteer Ron had the challenge of trying to keep everyone in line as the competition heated up — we’re not sure he quite knew what he’d signed up for! 😂

Lots of laughs, friendly rivalry and, most importantly, great fun all round! ❤️
