πŸ’™πŸ’› EXCITING NEWS FROM LOCHSIDE CONNECTIONS! πŸ’›πŸ’™

We are delighted to announce that Lochside Connections is growing! πŸ₯°

From Friday 16th October, our Dementia Meeting Centre will be opening an additional day each week, meaning we will now be open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday AND Friday! πŸŽ‰

With our new Friday opening, we are looking for potential new members who could benefit from coming along to Lochside Connections.

πŸ’™ Do you, or someone you know, live with the early stages of dementia?

Our Meeting Centre is a friendly, relaxed and supportive place where our members can meet new people, build friendships, take part in meaningful activities, enjoy days out, get involved in our garden, have lunch together and, most importantly, have plenty of fun and laughter! 😊

We are not a traditional day care service – our focus is on helping people remain active, independent and connected to their community while providing support for both our members and their families.

πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ We’re also looking for Friday volunteers!

As we grow, we would love some new faces to join our wonderful team of volunteers. Whether you can help with activities, spend time chatting with our members, lend a hand at lunchtime, help in the garden or simply make a good cuppy – we’d love to hear from you! β˜•πŸŒΌ

No previous experience is needed, just a friendly face, a little patience and a willingness to get involved. ❀️

If you are interested in joining us as a new member or volunteer, or would simply like to find out a little more about what we do, please get in touch:

Please share our posters and help us spread the word – you never know who might benefit from becoming part of the Lochside Connections family. πŸ’™πŸ’›

Here’s to making Fridays just as busy, fun and full of laughter as the rest of our week! πŸ₯°

πŸ’™ A Sad Day at Lochside Connections πŸ’™

Today is a bittersweet day as we say goodbye to our wonderful staff member, Gail.

Gail has been part of Lochside Connections right from the very beginning, joining us when we opened our doors in May 2022. Over the past four years, she has been such an important part of our team and has shared so many laughs, special moments and happy memories with our members. ❀️

We know Gail will be greatly missed by our members, staff and everyone at Lochside Connections, but we are so grateful for everything she has brought to the centre and for all the care and kindness she has shown along the way.

Please join us in wishing Gail all the very best for her next chapter. We’ll miss you, Gail! πŸ’β€οΈ

🌸 What a result at the Forfar Flower Show! 🌸

We are absolutely delighted to share that Lochside Connections had a fantastic day at the Forfar Flower Show! πŸ₯•πŸ₯”πŸŒΊπŸ°

πŸ† We won the Jas McLaren and Son Bakers Ltd Shield for the Group Class!

πŸ† We also won the Violet Lawton Shield for the Best Exhibit in the Novice Section!

And if that wasn’t exciting enough, we also had some brilliant winners in the individual sections too! πŸ‘πŸ₯‡

We honestly couldn’t be prouder of our members. ❀️ This has been a real team effort from start to finish β€” planting and growing our produce, keeping everything watered, tending to the garden, baking, creating floral displays and getting everything ready for the big day.

So many members played a part, and it was just amazing to stand back and see all their hard work come together… and then to come home with TWO shields made it even more special! πŸ†πŸ†

A huge thank you to Forfar Horticultural Society for not only welcoming us and allowing us to enter as a group, but also giving us the opportunity to promote Lochside Connections and show the wider community what our members can achieve.

We are very proud of every single one of you β€” what a team! πŸ’›πŸŒ»

Now… where are we going to put the trophies?! πŸ˜‚πŸ†

πŸŽ¨πŸ’œ Angus Dementia Arts Festival πŸ’œπŸŽ¨

Last week we had the absolute pleasure of being part of the Dementia Arts Festival, and we were completely blown away by what our members achieved! πŸ₯°

We are so incredibly proud of all the wonderful artwork they created and contributed to the festival. It was fantastic to see everything come together and to showcase just how much creativity, talent and imagination there is within our group. ❀️

And now that the festival has taken place, we are SO happy that we can finally show off our amazing Balmashanner Hill sculpture! πŸ˜πŸ‘

Our members have worked so hard on this piece over the past few weeks, and seeing it all finished and on display was a very proud moment for us. It really is something special, and we think they have done an absolutely fantastic job! πŸ’œ

We also had a lovely day visiting Kirrie Connections where our members got stuck into even more arts activities! πŸŽ¨πŸ–ŒοΈ There was lots of creativity, laughter and, of course, plenty of blethering along the way!

A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising the festival and giving our members the opportunity to have their work displayed and celebrated.

What a brilliant celebration of creativity and a wonderful reminder of just how much people living with dementia can achieve! πŸ’œπŸ‘

πŸŒΈπŸ† Forfar Flower Show Awards! πŸ†πŸŒΈ

Just a wee note to say that the Forfar Flower Show awards presentation will be taking place between 3:30pm and 4pm today at the Reid Hall.

If anyone would like to pop along and join us, you’d be very welcome! ❀️ Please just be aware that there is a small entry fee to get into the show.

We don’t want to give too much away just yet… but we may have won a wee something as a group πŸ‘€πŸ˜‰πŸ†πŸŒΈ

🎨 Angus Dementia Arts Festival 🎨

This week, Kirrie Connections are hosting the Angus Dementia Arts Festival, and we’re delighted that some of our members’ artwork will be on display! ❀️

We’re especially excited to finally share a very special sculpture that our members have been busy creating over the last few weeks. A lot of thought, creativity and wonderful memories have gone into making it, and we can’t wait for everyone to see the finished piece! πŸ₯°

Tomorrow, we’ll be heading along to Kirriemuir Connections with our members to enjoy the exhibition and see all the fantastic artwork that has been created across the different groups.

✨ The exhibition will then be open to the public on Friday 28th August from 11am–2pm.

If you’re free, please pop along, have a look around and see what we’ve all been up to. It’s a lovely opportunity to celebrate the creativity, talents and stories of people living with dementia across Angus. πŸ’™

We can’t wait to share our creations with you! 🎨❀️
