We are pleased to announce that Tayside Police Museum will open for the 2026 season on Thursday 26th March, a little earlier this year so as to include the Easter holidays.

We open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 11am until 3pm, but would ask anyone planning to visit to arrive before 2.30 so as to get sufficient time to appreciate the many items on display and even an opportunity to dress up in one of the many uniforms we have!

Located on the ground floor of Kirriemuir Police Station at 15 Reform Street, the museum is owned by Police Scotland, and operated by a small group of enthusiastic volunteers composed mainly of retired Police officers and members of the Kirriemuir Heritage Trust.

Our aim is to preserve and share the heritage and history of policing in all of the areas that now comprise the Tayside region, Dundee City, Angus, and Perth & Kinross.

Please see our reviews on Tripadvisor to get an idea of what you can look forward to when taking a tour of our museum. See you soon!

Hello everyone. Well it’s that time of year again, so here is the usual short message to let you all know that the Police Museum will close for the 2025 season on Saturday 27th September. Regular followers of our page will be aware that this is a bit earlier than some previous years, and is a consequence of a shortage of volunteer availability during October.

Despite some challenges, the museum has had another successful year, the volunteers having given guided tours to hundreds of visitors, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to the many of them who left fantastic reviews on TripAdvisor and Google, and also for their donations of course.

We will open again next year around Easter time, but as always during this 'closed' period, are happy to facilitate group visits whenever we are able. Any group interested in doing so can contact us using a contact form on our website.

Although we were very fortunate to have recruited another volunteer during 2025, we hope that more of you might be able to help out next year. No formal training is required, and can be as little as a few hours a month every now and then.

Best wishes to all from the volunteers and see you in 2026! 🙂

Hi everyone!

Tayside Police Museum Kirriemuir will open for the 2024 season on Monday 25th March at 11am.

We are opening a few days earlier than usual in support of the ‘My Angus’ initiative, which is taking place to highlight some of the many fantastic attractions and activities available in the county! So why not come along and see us on any day of the My Angus week through to Saturday 30th March.

We will thereafter open every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, from 11am until 3pm each day, although we do ask visitors to arrive no later than 2.30 so as to give us a decent amount of time to give them a great tour.

We hope to stay open throughout the summer, and well into the autumn. However, as with most organisations run solely by volunteers it is sometimes difficult to achieve this, so we do ask any prospective visitors to contact us first to ensure that we're open. And if the flags are out, we are!

We look forward to seeing you
