Hi! And thanks for stopping by our page!
A group of us have recently come together to support the redevelopment of the Forfar Play Park at the Loch. It’s still early days, but the ambition is to create something that truly works for everyone in the town, from baby swings and toddler play, through to climbing, swings, and spaces for older children and teenagers, potentially including things like parkour, skating and cycling features.
But it’s not just about play, it’s about creating a space the whole community can enjoy. Dog walkers, families, runners, social groups, and visitors. Somewhere people want to spend time, meet others and feel proud of.
We’re all aware of some of the recent issues locally, including vandalism, and it really highlights how important it is that anything new is respected and looked after. The success of a project like this depends on the whole community taking pride in it and protecting it for everyone to enjoy.
We’re really keen for this to be a community led project, shaped by the people who use it. That includes children and young people, and we’re hoping to engage with local schools and community groups so they can have a voice in what’s created.
We’re currently in the process of formally establishing the group, so there will be more opportunities for people to follow progress and get involved.
It’s an ambitious vision, but one we’re hopeful and determined to deliver. More than anything, we want to create something that the town feels ownership of because when people feel part of something, they’re far more likely to look after it.
If anyone is interested in getting involved or supporting the project, we’d love to hear from you.
In the meantime time share amongst your friends, follow the posts and help with algorithm circulating 🙂
