We’re looking for a new adult helper to join our Beavers section 🦫(6-8 year olds)

If you’re someone who can get through to kids, keep things positive, and also wants to have fun, you’d be a fantastic fit. Beavers is all about games, crafts, teamwork, outdoor adventures and building confidence β€” and it’s genuinely one of the most rewarding (and funniest) parts of the week.

When & where:
πŸ“… Tuesdays, 6.30–7.30pm
πŸ“ Glamis Scout Hut (next to the primary school), Glamis, Forfar

βœ… Full support from the team
βœ… Training is online through Scouts
βœ… PVG required (applied for through Scouts)

You don’t need to be an expert β€” just friendly, reliable, and up for getting stuck in.

If you’re interested (or just want a chat about what it involves), drop us a message or comment below 😊

Kitchen Update – Thank You! πŸ‘·β€β™€οΈπŸ”§

A quick update on the kitchen project at the 61st Glamis Scouts Hut, and a big thank you to everyone who has helped us get this far. The progress has been fantastic and it’s been a real community effort.

βœ… We were incredibly lucky to receive funding from an anonymous donor in the village, which allowed us to get the project started. Glamis Construction & Management laid the foundations and built the outer shell of the new kitchen extension β€” thank you for the great work.

βœ… We then needed urgent repairs to the roof over the toilet block, and Glamis and Area Community Council (GAACT) kindly provided emergency funding to make that happen. GAACT also generously supplied materials to clad the outside of the new build and replace the cladding on the toilet block too.

βœ… A huge thanks to Des and everyone who helped remove the old cladding and fit the new β€” that’s a big job and it’ll keep us watertight for years to come.

βœ… Pert Bruce Construction Ltd very kindly gifted us 24 plasterboard sheets, and Des and Jon learned some new skills getting those up (including taping plasterboard!).

βœ… Sarah sourced us a kitchen from Airlie Hall, and we’re very grateful to the Directors of Airlie Hall for gifting it to us. The Aberbrothock Skea Trust funded some of the kitchen too!

βœ… Iain installed the kitchen, and Whittons Flooring Ltd generously donated and fitted the flooring β€” thank you!

βœ… And a big thank you to MAC Electricians for their support with the electrics β€” much appreciated.

It’s been a brilliant team effort and we’re really grateful to everyone who has donated materials, time, skills, and support to help make this happen. The kitchen is going to make a huge difference for our young people and the running of the Hut.

What have our young people at 61st Glamis Scouts been up to recently? πŸ€”

We might have been a bit quiet on here, but the adventure definitely hasn’t stopped!

Over the past few weeks we’ve been:

πŸŽ„ Singing Christmas songs for residents at a local older persons’ home

🧹 Litter picking around our local area (working towards our Community Impact badge)

🍳 Cooking outdoors in our outdoor kitchen

πŸ”₯ Having campfires and belting out campfire songs

πŸš€ Learning about space and exploring what it means to be without gravity

🎨 Getting creative with crafts and modelling

πŸ§—β€β™€οΈ Climbing and really pushing ourselves to the limit

From our Squirrels to our Scouts, our young people have pushed themselves, inspired us, and most importantly had a lot of fun. The New Year brings even more adventure! 🌟

Why not volunteer with us? We’d love an extra pair of hands for:

🐾 Tuesday Beavers

🐺 Thursday Cubs / Scouts

Drop us a message or speak to a leader if you’d like to get involved πŸ’š

We’re looking for a bit of help from our amazing local community πŸ‘·β€β™€οΈπŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈ

The 61st Glamis Scouts are at the final stages of our Scout Hut kitchen, and we’re currently on the lookout for:
βœ… Flooring materials or fitting support
βœ… Ex-demo kitchen units/worktops

If you’re a local tradesperson, supplier, or business with leftover stock or materials that could help us give our young people a better space to cook, learn, and build skills, we’d love to hear from you! πŸ’š

Every bit of support makes a huge difference, and we’ll happily give a shoutout to anyone who helps.

πŸ“© Message us here if you can lend a hand or know someone who can.

🌟 Busy Week at the Hut! 🌟

This week our Squirrels were trying something new β€” with the help of Unicorn, our Young Leader, who introduced them to a fantastic challenge game! πŸ¦„πŸŽ² The Squirrels loved it and were fully engaged throughout. πŸ‘

Meanwhile, our Beavers spent the evening learning all about first aid with support from Mini Aid Tayside πŸ©ΉπŸ’‘ They picked up some brilliant life skills while having plenty of fun along the way.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for making it another great week at the Scout Hut! πŸ™Œ

πŸš€ Outdoor Chefs in Action! 🍳πŸ”₯

Our Cubs and Scouts are always cooking outdoors (mainly because our kitchen is still under development πŸ˜‰). But thanks to the hard work of our amazing Cub and Scout Volunteers β€” with plenty of help from the kids β€” we now have a fantastic new outdoor kitchen space! πŸ™Œ

Even better, we repurposed some of the old roofing from our building to create it β€” a brilliant bit of recycling and teamwork! ♻️

All that’s left is to add a tap and some plumbing, and it’ll be ready to go. A huge well done to everyone involved β€” what a team effort! πŸ’ͺ🌟

This week all our sections joined together for our annual fishing trip at Forbes of Kingennie. We started off by learning about water safety, handling hooks safely, and looking after the fishing tackle. Everyone had a go at casting their lines, reeling in, and getting to grips with baiting the hook and setting the float.

We managed to catch a few small roach, which the kids were absolutely fascinated by. Unfortunately, we were a little too noisy for the trout this time!

Despite that, everyone – from Squirrels and Beavers to Cubs and Scouts – enjoyed learning the basics of fishing and spending time by the water.

✨ Another busy week across our sections! ✨

πŸͺ„ Our Squirrels let their imaginations run wild, creating monsters out of recycled materials. Most of these curious creatures seemed to live in deep water… and apparently had a taste for leaders! πŸ‘€πŸ‰

πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ Meanwhile, our Beavers headed to Forfar for an evening hike around the loch – a fantastic adventure to stretch their legs and enjoy the outdoors. πŸŒ™πŸŒ²

πŸ”₯ Cubs and Scouts were honing their survival skills, cooking up tasty meals using just a few simple ingredients and, of course, a fire.

πŸ‘ Well done to everyone – what a brilliant week of creativity, adventure, and skills for life!

✨ Adventure, challenge, and plenty of fun! ✨

A couple of weeks ago our Cubs and Scouts had an amazing time at Willowgate Adventure Centre . They took to the water with paddle boarding, kayaking, and enjoyed some great team games. 🌊πŸ’ͺ

Our youngest members, the Squirrels, joined in for a few hours of adventure too β€” trying out Peddlerz, pond dipping, and bush crafts. 🐿️🌿

Meanwhile, the Beavers had their own action-packed day at Belmont with archery, orienteering, crate stacking, and the night line challenge. πŸŽ―πŸ—ΊοΈπŸͺœ

We’re so proud of all our young people for pushing themselves beyond their comfort zones and embracing every opportunity! πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘

We are so pleased to share that Pert Bruce Construction Ltd . has kindly gifted us plasterboards for our kitchen! πŸ™Œ Work has been a little slower since April due to roofing issues (which we hope to resolve soon), so this generous support is a huge boost.

A massive thank you to Pert Bruce Construction Ltd. for helping us move forward β€” your support means so much! πŸ’™

🌟 Could someone you know make a difference? 🌟

The 61st Glamis Scouts are looking for adult volunteers (18+) to help run our exciting weekly activities for young people in Glamis.

We’d love your help in spreading the word β€” perhaps your son, daughter, or grandchild would enjoy giving back to the community and inspiring the next generation.

We need extra hands in:
🐿 Squirrels (ages 4–6) – Mondays, 6:00–7:00pm
🐾 Cubs & Scouts (ages 8–14) – Thursdays, 7:00–8:30pm

βœ… No previous experience is needed – full training and support provided.
βœ… A great way to meet people, learn new skills, and make a positive impact.
❀️ Must enjoy working with children and being part of a friendly team.
