🐴BHS Ireland Equine Futures Day🐴
➡️Saturday 27 June 2026
➡️10am to 1pm
➡️Shanaghan Hill Farm, Katesbridge
A showcase day highlighting and promoting enhanced equine welfare and education, sustainability, regeneration and innovation in the equine sector in Northern Ireland. The focus is on progressive equestrianism – where horses, riders, vets, and land management intersect. A blend of science, welfare leadership, and community impact.
The BHS Ireland Equine Futures Day will be held at Shanaghan Veterinary Services located on Shanaghan Hill Farm which is a family run 80-acre sheep and horse farm in Katesbridge, nestled amongst the undulating hills and valleys of Count Down. The ethos of the farm is that everything is a cycle where people, the environment, and animals are all connected. The farm is managed in a regenerative way working with nature.
This inspiring day represents the BHS passion for improving the lives of horses and people.
During the day we will view and discuss: -
• soil health and composting using bokashi microbes, pasture management, fertilising systems and biodiversity options.
• equine worm/parasite management and worm/parasite counting demonstrations using the latest methods.
• Irish Draught/Sport Horse mares and young horses discussing their holistic management, early handling methods and quality of life.
• Equine treatments available at Shanaghan Veterinary Services and their benefits/uses.

This day will count as 3 CPD Points for BHS Accredited Professional Coaches.

🦷 Horses can be incredibly good at hiding dental pain.

They’ll keep eating. Keep working. Keep carrying on. But underneath, discomfort and disease can quietly worsen over time.

Undiagnosed dental problems are a major welfare concern, and signs often don’t appear until the issue has become much more serious. That’s why regular dental checks matter so much 🙏
