Thank you Kevin Newman for a great talk last month. Kevin is a well known Sussex historian and keen writer on the subject. His talk was a light hearted look at what the county has given and been gifted! Kevin has a fond connection with the parish as for a while he taught at St Andrews school!

This month we look forward to welcoming Ron Bates who will be talking to us about some of the Horsham pubs that have now permanently shut their doors.

Come along on Wednesday, 25 March to Mannings Heath Village Hall for ‘Last Orders Revisited’. Doors open at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start.

A lovely little piece of local history. Do comment if you have your own memories of the line that ran through a part of our Parish. How different might things have been if it hadn’t been closed…..

Join us tonight at 7:30 PM at Mannings Heath Village Hall for our Annual General Meeting. Everyone is welcome – whether you’re a member or just curious about local history!

✨ Come and hear about last year’s activities and our exciting plans for the New Year. Nibbles and wine will be provided.

📚 There will also be a sale of pre-loved history books (cash only), plus an update on the Big Book of Nuthurst. You might even discover something about the history of your own house!

Agendas and accounts have been emailed to members, but if you’d like a copy – whether you’re a member or not – just get in touch.

We look forward to seeing you this evening 😊.

Well that’s 2025 consigned to history!

It was a busy year for the society, talks, a barbeque, a VE Day celebration and a beautifully decorated tree in the Church at Christmas 🎄.

Thank you to all of you who come along to the meetings, whether as guests or visitors. It really is lovely to see you each month.

Thank you to all the speakers we have had on such a variety of topics. Several of them were return guests and we will probably see a few of them again in the future.

Grateful thanks to the Committee at Copsale Hall for working with us to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

On that note, thank you so much to the very talented crafters who made such lovely poppies for the sociey’s tree in St Andrews Christmas Tree Festival. It really does look fabulous. There is even a little poppy wearing angel atop of the tree.

If you are at a loose end over the weekend, do pop into the church to see the trees, they really are wonderful with so many of the parish organisations being represented so creatively.

Finally, thank you to the hard working committee who make it all happen behind the scenes.

Wishing you all a very happy new year.

The Parish will pay its respects to the fallen at the lych gate at St Andrews Church in Nuthurst today.

On one side of the entrance to the church yard are the names of those from the Parish who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Great War and on the other, those who served and returned home.

Today it is the focal point for the Parish to come together and remember all those who have been lost in any conflict.

🌺We will remember them 🌺
