Independent charity in Horsham for people who have had a stroke or similar neurological condition.

The Phoenix Stroke Club is a weekly club in Horsham for people who have either had a stroke or have a neurological condition. We support stroke survivors by:
Restoring confidence
Improving communication
Friendship and support

We do this through:
Activities/games
Exercise
Quizzes
Informal chat
Meeting other stroke survivors

The club enables family carers to have weekly respite, a break from caring to do things that they may otherwise not have the chance to do. We have club days and a Communication Support Group, supporting those whose language and/or communication skills have been affected by stroke. Our volunteer to member ratio in this group is often 1-2-1, to enhance our members’ benefit.

‘Positive Harmony’ our Phoenix Stroke Club choir is busy rehearsing and getting ready for its Christmas concert, which will take place on 13th December!

Our Wednesday group members thoroughly enjoyed the presentation given by Elizabeth, our Wednesday group volunteer, and John, our wonderful Wednesday cook and a retired firefighter. John kindly agreed to share his knowledge and experiences of the fire and rescue services with the members. A huge thank you to them both for such an interesting session.

A BIG thank you to Keith our driver, who prepared a wonderful quiz for our members on birds of prey, featuring some of the beautiful photographs he has taken over the years. What a lovely way to share his passion for wildlife with us!

Our Monday members took part in a Phoenix Stroke Club tradition yesterday! Making their Christmas cakes! They took it in turns to get mixing and played table games whilst waiting for their turn. The smell of baking cakes in the afternoon was amazing!
