Phoenix Stroke Club

Phoenix Stroke Club Independent charity in Horsham for people who have had a stroke or similar neurological condition.

The Phoenix Stroke Club is a weekly club in Horsham for people who have either had a stroke or have a neurological condition. We support stroke survivors by:
Restoring confidence
Improving communication
Friendship and support

We do this through:
Activities/games
Exercise
Quizzes
Informal chat
Meeting other stroke survivors

The club enables family carers to have weekly respite, a break f

rom caring to do things that they may otherwise not have the chance to do. We have club days and a Communication Support Group, supporting those whose language and/or communication skills have been affected by stroke. Our volunteer to member ratio in this group is often 1-2-1, to enhance our members’ benefit.

We are incredibly proud to announce that the club has now purchased its own minibus!
We have taken this important step to support our members in accessing their club sessions and activities, while also helping to reduce the cost of transport for our members.
We are equally delighted to announce that we now have a wonderful team of volunteer drivers who have kindly offered to help us manage and run our transport service. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

🪴🌷🌼🌸 Our volunteer gardeners Tracy and Alan have added a little more character to our garden, filling it with lots of lovely little ornaments for members to enjoy and look at when they sit outside. They also left the members a lovely card. 💗

Our Phoenix Stroke Club golfers have completed their final golf session of the year at Mannings Heath Golf Club and what a great few months it has been! A huge thank you to Karl Spurrier who has been leading these sessions for our Stroke Club members for the third year running. Your encouragement and patience have made such a difference, and we are incredibly grateful for all your support.
Well done to everyone who attended the sessions! It was wonderful to see our members and volunteers getting out on the course, learning new skills and most importantly, enjoying themselves.

Our Wednesday members also enjoyed an Inclusive Cycling session at The Bridge. Thank you so much to Paul Taylor, who is Horsham Council’s Sports Development Officer, for organising this activity! And also a BIG THANK YOU to all the cycling volunteers who were amazing and very helpful in assisting our members to access the bikes and ride safely. 💗
