"Kitchen Disco"

Tip: Movement is a fast track way to change your mood and release stored stress.

Activity: Pick a song that makes you want to move- something with a beat. Close the doors, turn it up and let go. You don't need a routine; shake your arms, spin around and get your heart rate up. Dance your shoes off and feel the music take you.

Benefits: Dancing releases a 'happiness cocktail' of endorphins and dopamine.

🎨🖌️Carers Week saw the launch of our Feel Good Fridays session in the Skipton office🖌️🎨

With a Carers Crafternoon led by Roxan, who introduced a range of crafts and materials, including clay, card making and watercolours. It was a very relaxing afternoon, and an opportunity to have a break from the norm as well as learning new skill.

This series of sessions are for unpaid carers who support a family member or friend at home, with further Carers Crafternoons taking place on the last Friday of the month at the Skipton office from 1pm-3pm. The sessions are for all levels of experience.

Further Feel Good Friday sessions including taster Tai-Chi and introduction to aromatherapy are also being planned for later in the year.

Hosted by BMES, the event runs from 3.30pm to 5.30pm and encourages families to bring a picnic and spend time outdoors. We will provide light refreshments. Please consider your own accessibility needs, as some of the park pathways are uneven and sloped. The entrance is on Cliffe Wood Avenue where there is car parking.

We had a brilliant time over in Selby hosting two fantastic events for our incredible carers. Our Parent Carer Group enjoyed some much deserved pampering with relaxing hand massages. A huge thank you to our amazing therapist Serenity Matters🧘‍♀️🌟

☕🍰 Carers Week Celebration in Skipton 🌼

We had a busy and lively Parent Carer Coffee & Cake Meet Up in Skipton this morning as part of our Carers Week celebrations.
Six parent carers joined us, along with Janine Martin, Parent Participation Officer for Parent Carer Voice, who shared her knowledge, experience, and valuable support with the group.

Over coffee, cake, biscuits, laughter, and a few tears, we created a safe and supportive space where parent carers could connect, share experiences, and support one another.
Some of the topics discussed included:
✔️ Applying for Deputyship
✔️ Disabled Children's Team referrals
✔️ Home-Start support
✔️ CEA and Access Cards
✔️ Blue Badge applications
✔️ National Insurance credits
✔️ Special school placements

Everyone who attended left with new knowledge, a beautiful bunch of flowers, and, most importantly, the feeling of being listened to and understood.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the morning so special. 💜
