Thank you for giving 54 hours supporting our community litter picking and completing practical tasks for our Fit Partners St Mark's, Harrogate Trinity Methodist Church, Harrogate and New Park Primary Academy 🙌 🧡

Let us know if you need some Wednesday evening help from our enthusiastic and cheerful crew and they'll come running or walking over to you - as long as you're in a 2 mile radius of our base at Community House! 🏃🚶

Our Lizzie and Power of 10 Co-ordinator Jo enjoyed the celebrations yesterday at Ripon Together's St Wilfrid's Stars, recognising the contributions of so many special people who make Ripon community such a special place. ✨

We're delighted to see our brilliant Power of 10 young volunteering ambassador and Ripon youth council Chair Zoe win a very well deserved award! ✨

A special thank you to the Ripon Together volunteer team and our friends at Ripon Cathedral who make this positive and inspiring event happen and to our own Help Out Ripon star volunteers who received nominations. ✨✨

This week we were delighted to connect with Harrogate Youth Council members on our community funding pilot project with our partners The Shears Foundation

It's a great opportunity for local voices to be heard and for local young people to help shape local funding priorities.

We look forward to working together on our Power of 10 volunteering awards and rewards scheme too.

Good to see that young people are also involved in shaping priorities at Harrogate Town Council and invited to have a say about events they would like to see in our town.

It’s been a busy week so far!

On Monday, we met up with Harrogate and District Community Action who are helping to run a panel to aid community funding in Bilton. It was an amazing opportunity to actively see change happen locally. We are looking forward to a strengthened partnership!

Today, we had our in-person meeting and invited the Harrogate Town Council along to discuss how we can both work together, openly and collaboratively. It was great to know that we have shared priorities, and we are glad to be working together for the greater good.

As the Harrogate Youth Council, we are always looking for change to happen that young people want and that will benefit young people. We hope this week is a significant marker towards this happening!

An important update about HADCA’s future

After careful consideration, HADCA’s Board of Trustees has made the strategic decision to join North Yorkshire Hospice Care (NYHC), known locally as Saint Michael’s Hospice. This partnership creates new opportunities to build on nearly 40 years of community action and support. While HADCA’s structure will change, our commitment to local people, charities and community groups remains at the heart of everything we do.

Our services, volunteering support, networks and Community House will continue under NYHC, with the same dedicated staff team, giving our work a stronger and more sustainable platform for the future. The transition date has not yet been confirmed, and we’ll keep you updated as plans develop.

✨There was such a buzz in the room as members of our Harrogate Children & Young People’s Network shared the fantastic work they are doing inspiring, enabling, connecting & supporting young people, and keeping them safe.

✨It was exciting to see new connections being made to give new opportunities for young people to feel safe and well and supported to reach their potential.

A special day for our Power of 10 too – the launch of the project in Harrogate supported by Harrogate Town Council, following the success of our young people’s volunteering awards and rewards scheme in Ripon.

We also heard from our Community Safety Hub about the important work they do with partners & our communities to deal with local issues when people aren't safe or don't feel safe, and how we can work together to improve our area.

A big thank you to Carly for hosting us at the amazing new Birk Crag Centre – what a wonderful achievement by Girlguiding North Yorkshire West County and all their supporters 🥳

Thank you to Harrogate Town Council for supporting the Network and bringing people together to achieve more.

Saturday is World Mental Health Day, a day which reminds us why good mental health is so important, and how we can prioritise it in our lives and communities. It’s also a moment to talk openly and listen to what others are experiencing. Conversations and connections make a difference. And they matter most when we listen to people’s experiences.

There is a link to World Mental Health Day resources in this week’s HADCA bulletin, which in every issue shares ideas to make positive connections, learn, help others, get involved & grow local community projects, to make our area a kinder place.
