A lovely opportunity to enjoy sunshine, refreshments and wander around some truly beautiful gardens - all whilst raising money for St John's Church, Mickley and Saint Michael's Hospice 💚

A little reminder! We have something rather special happening in the village on Sunday, June 14. It's our Open Gardens Event with over 20 gardens to peruse, much tea, cake, quiches and sandwiches to be consumed and a plant stall with lots of lovely potted greenery waiting to fill that space in your border at home. So, let's make it a date. . . . See you soon
Oh, and the £5 you pay to come in (your little lovelies are free) goes to help the good work of St Micheal's Hospice and the village church.

June is ‘Month of Community’, a time for us to come together to celebrate everything that makes our communities great. ✨

People across the country take part every year to cheer volunteers, connect with neighbours, welcome refugees, support carers, raise awareness of loneliness or simply to say thank you. 🙏💐
Inspired by Volunteers' Week and Carers Week, volunteers are invited to make a real difference to unpaid carers, in Ripon & across our district, through the work of local charity Carers' Resource and its Carers’ Time Off service.

This essential and valued service provides carers with a regular break from their caring responsibilities. Volunteers spend time with the person being cared for, offering companionship, conversation and social interaction, while carers can take much-needed time for themselves.

If you enjoy meeting people and a good chat, have patience and empathy, this is a lovely way to spend an hour or two that can make such a difference. ❤️

✨ Happy Volunteers' Week everyone! A HUGE thank you to all of you giving time to make our Harrogate district a kinder, happier place. Your time, passion, skills, care and enthusiasm, helping others and caring for our local places, often quietly behind the scenes, has such a positive impact for us all. 🧡

Special thank you to our Help Out Harrogate Help Out Ripon and Community Fit - Harrogate teams helping out at local charities, groups, schools & community events; our Power of 10 young volunteers giving time, energy and new ideas to local projects; our Harrogate Easier Living Project volunteers supporting people to live safe, well & independently at home and our HADCA trustees sharing their skills to guide & support our local charity through challenging and changing times. 💐

If you’ve been in Harrogate Community House this week, you’ll have been greeted by our Volunteers’ Week bunting as well as the usual warm welcome from our lovely reception team, who are always happy to help people interested in volunteering. Sometimes our visitors’ interests can be a good match for one of the fab charities who have their home in our building, like our friends at Open Country Yorkshire 💚

This week HADCA has taken over local operator management of The Local Lotto from North Yorkshire Council. The Lotto has flourished under their care since it was launched in 2018 and has so far raised £399,853.20 for good causes throughout the Harrogate District.

We are delighted to now have the opportunity to look after and continue to grow this important source of fundraising for many local charities, schools and community groups, either directly or via grants from The Local Fund which also benefits from The Local Lotto.

Since the Lotto was launched we have been working with the Council to promote it to both good causes and players - as these photos show! 👍❤️

Thank you to everyone for supporting good causes locally. If you don’t already play you can purchase tickets at https://www.thelocallotto.co.uk/ and choose which cause you would like to support!

Players must be 18 or over

Thank you so much Sarah at Autism Angels UK for inviting our local charity leaders’ group to your amazing farm last month to enjoy a little time away from busy days. Sharing time together and focusing on wellbeing, in such a lovely, naturally therapeutic setting, connecting with the horses, was so uplifting, appreciated and needed. 💚🐴

It’s always good to take a little time out, to connect and support each other in these challenging times for our charities, and the people we work with.

Give yourself this time - you deserve it. Reflect, recharge, recognise what works for you, appreciate just how much we all manage and how amazing you are even in the face of ongoing external pressures. ✨

We’re always open to ideas for how our local charity leaders’ group can best support and be of value to our local decision makers, who face ongoing external pressures whilst leading our brilliant local charities bringing hope, care and joy to so many, keeping people safe, well and connected. 💕

Young people are the future of volunteering & our communities. 🧡 We're so proud of our Power of 10 Ambassadors, including Zoe who inspires us with enthusiasm and dedication. It's brilliant to hear how Zoe enjoys volunteering so much, seeing other young people flourish & helping to give opportunities for the next generation.
A big Volunteers' Week thank you Zoe. ✨🙌

Thank you to our Community Fit - Harrogate Stars ✨ in Volunteers' Week & every week when you're keeping active, social & busy with community team tasks!
🧡 As our Community Partners say you're special people! 🧡

‘We’re thrilled with all you did - it made such a difference. We’ve had a special day - the activities were well received, especially the banner you helped produce. The lunches were hoovered down - special thanks to your amazing slicers, butterers and sandwich makers. We are so grateful for all you do for us - you’re a special group of people.’

Celebrating our Help Out Ripon and Help Out Harrogate volunteers this Volunteers' Week - helping with dinners, delivering leaflets, baking cakes, pulling pints, helping with stalls, marshalling fun runs- our volunteers can put their hand to help out with almost anything!

Thank you for making a difference to the people, places and spaces that matter to our communities and for giving a volunteering boost to our busy local charities and groups when they need it most. 🧡✨

Help Out Ripon only launched at the end of November and already it's making a big impact, offering that extra boost to charities and community groups in Ripon.
We want to say a great big THANK YOU to those who have volunteered already and those who are about to do their first volunteering with Help Out.
They've been helping with dinners, delivering brochures, baking cakes, delivering leaflets, helping with stalls, marshalling fun runs- our volunteers can put their hand to almost anything!
As one charity said, "I can’t tell you how much difference it made to our work and stress levels this week – it was a huge bonus having extra hands to help".
So thanks again to all our volunteers!

💕We wouldn't be here for people who don't know where to turn, who to trust or where to meet new friends without the kindness and dedication of our Harrogate Easier Living Project volunteers.

💕 “Thank you for the help I’ve received and the kindness and friendliness of your volunteers. It is difficult to know who
I can trust since I have been on my own. HELP is so trustworthy and reliable, and I know I can contact HELP when in difficulties.”

💕 “I am so pleased I came to Friendship Club. I have made the loveliest friend who’s so supportive. We enjoy coming and look
forward to seeing people. The exercise is good for us and I feel that we benefit from it.’

💕“This group is my family.”

A big Volunteers' Week thank you to every one of you! ✨🙌💐

This , we want to say a huge THANK YOU to all of our incredible volunteers.

Whether you’re supporting Andy through our Help at Home service, befriending older people in the community, or helping at our Friendship & Exercise Club, your time, kindness, and commitment make a real difference every single day.

You help people stay connected, independent, active, and supported, often during some of the most challenging times in their lives.

We simply couldn’t do what we do without you.

Thank you for everything you do and for the positive impact you have on so many lives. ❤️💚💙💛
