TIDE AWARENESS – THIS WEEKEND 🌊
A reminder that our beach is fully tidal, and the tide can come in surprisingly quickly.
⚠️ Please take extra care around the archways and tunnels beneath the promenade. These areas can become cut off by the incoming tide, leaving you trapped with no safe way back.
πŸ“… With high tides of over 7 metres this weekend, please keep tide times in mind before heading onto the beach and always allow plenty of time to return to the promenade safely.
Don’t get caught by the tide, stay aware, stay safe and enjoy our beach responsibly. πŸ›Ÿ

WILDFIRE RISK – BBQs & OPEN FLAMES PROHIBITED πŸ”₯

A reminder to everyone visiting Sunny Sands this weekend and other open spaces across the Folkestone & Hythe area.

Following the UK Government’s warning that there is currently a VERY HIGH risk of wildfires nationally, Government advice is that BBQs and naked/open flames should not be used in these public spaces.

The ground and vegetation are extremely dry, and a small flame or hot ember can quickly develop into a serious wildfire, putting people, wildlife, property and our emergency services at risk.

If you see a fire, move to a safe location and call 999 immediately.

Please follow the signage and local guidance, and help us keep Sunny Sands and the wider Folkestone & Hythe area safe.

HIGH TIDE REMINDER – SUNDAY 🌊

Just a reminder for anyone planning to visit Sunny Sands tomorrow.

Tomorrow’s high tide is forecast to reach 7.3m at 14:07. At this height, the entire beach will be covered by the sea and the tunnels beneath the promenade will be submerged.

If you’re visiting tomorrow, please check the tide times and plan your visit around the tide.

If you’re on the beach as the tide approaches, please make sure you move up onto the promenade well before high tide, particularly if you have young children with you.

The water can come in quickly and access from the beach can become limited, so please don’t leave it until the last minute.

Stay safe, check the tide and enjoy Sunny Sands responsibly.

🌊 HIGH TIDE INFORMATION – THIS WEEKEND 🌊

Over the next 3–4 days, we’re expecting unusually high tides at Sunny Sands.

On Saturday, the tide is forecast to reach around 7.39m at 13:37. Once the tide reaches around 7m or above, the beach can become completely covered, with the tunnels beneath the promenade also becoming submerged.

⚠️ If you’re visiting the beach, please:
β€’ Check the tide times before heading onto the beach.
β€’ Keep an eye on the incoming tide and move up onto the promenade well before high tide.
β€’ Take extra care if you have young children with you.
β€’ Don’t wait until the last moment to leave the beach, as rising water can quickly cut off access to the promenade.

Please stay safe, keep an eye on the tide and enjoy the beach responsibly.

🌊 Jellyfish Update 🌊

We've had a number of reports from beachgoers this morning, and our lifeguards have also spotted Moon Jellyfish and Compass Jellyfish along the beach today.

πŸͺΌ Moon Jellyfish are generally harmless and fascinating to see, but please avoid touching them, even if they've washed ashore.

πŸͺΌ Compass Jellyfish can give a painful sting, so it's best to give them plenty of space and keep children and dogs away from any stranded jellyfish.

Our lifeguards are keeping an eye on the situation, so if you're unsure about anything or think you've spotted one, come and have a chat with us.

Have a fantastic day and stay safe! β˜€οΈπŸŒŠ

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ Armed Forces Day 2026 – A Busy Day for Our Volunteers

What an incredible day! With thousands of visitors enjoying Folkestone's Armed Forces Day celebrations, our volunteer lifeguards and rescue boat crew were kept busy from start to finish.

Throughout the day our team:
🌊 Completed 5 water rescues
πŸš‘ Responded to 2 medical emergencies
🚀 Kept our rescue boat on the water, maintaining the marine exclusion zone to help ensure the air displays could take place safely for everyone watching from the shoreline.

While many were enjoying the spectacular aircraft overhead, our volunteers were working tirelessly in the background to keep people safe both on the beach and on the water.

We couldn't be prouder of every single member of the team. Their professionalism, teamwork and dedication throughout a long, demanding day was outstanding. As always, they gave up their own time to protect others, and they did an incredible job.

A huge thank you as well to everyone who supported us throughout the day and to all of the agencies and event organisers we worked alongside. It was a fantastic example of partnership working to deliver a safe and enjoyable event for the community.

Well done, team – you've done Folkestone Rescue proud. πŸ’™
