🌊 A Small Monthly Donation Can Keep A Lifesaving Service Going 🌊

Folkestone Rescue exists because local people choose to support it.

Our volunteers give their time freely, but the reality is that rescue equipment, insurance, medical supplies, fuel, and training all cost money, even during the winter months.

That’s why monthly donations matter so much.
A few pounds each month from people across Folkestone helps give this service stability and helps ensure we can continue protecting our coastline into the future.

What a gorgeous Bank Holiday it’s been! Sunny Sands was incredibly busy and we’ve seen the recent posts around this and sinking clay concerns. Days like today are exactly why having volunteer lifeguards on patrol in Folkestone matters so much.

While many of us were enjoying the sunshine with friends and family this weekend, our volunteer lifeguards were on the beach keeping watch and helping those who needed them:

🛟 22 lost children reunited with parents
🛟 17 people assisted whilst in difficulty
🛟 5 medical incidents responded too
🛟 10+ first aid administered
🛟 4 water rescues carried out
🛟 Lots of advice provided, tombstoning prevented, signposting, water and suncream

They do this because they genuinely care about Folkestone and keeping you safe.

We run entirely through donations. Every plaster, bandage, bottle of water, rescue board, piece of lifesaving equipment, and every hour of training for our volunteers is funded by the kindness and support of the public.

If you’d like to support our volunteers, we appreciate anything you could spare:

Thank you for always looking out for one another on the beach.

Love Folkestone Rescue Lifeguards ♥️

🌊 Proud to Stand with NILA 🌊

Folkestone Rescue is proud to be a founding member of the National Independent Lifeboat Association (NILA), standing alongside independent rescue organisations across the UK & Ireland.

Together in 2025, independent lifeboat stations contributed to:
🚤 1,843 incidents attended
🧡 2,189 people assisted
⏱️ Over 112,000 operational volunteer hours

These figures highlight just how vital independent rescue services are to local communities, waterways, and coastlines.

Unlike centrally funded services, independent lifeboats rely heavily on volunteers, fundraising, donations, and community support to remain operational.

We’re honoured to play our part alongside so many dedicated crews committed to saving lives.

Thank you to every volunteer, supporter, fundraiser, and partner organisation who makes this possible.

We are happy to share with you the combined stats for our members for 2025

🧡 Folkestone Is Bigger Than You Think 🧡

More than 60,000 people live in Folkestone.
If just a small number of residents supported Folkestone Rescue with a monthly donation, it would make a huge difference to the future of our service.

We’re a volunteer-run lifeguard team, relying entirely on local support to help keep our coastline safer. Every donation stays local and helps fund training, equipment, insurance, fuel, and emergency response.

Even £5 a month helps us plan ahead and stay rescue-ready through 2026 and beyond.

--Red Flag--

An update on the sunny sands today, due to the intense fog along the coast visibility is very low and our red flag is in place. A red flag means we believe there is a danger to swimmers and we may be unable to conduct a rescue.

We advise everyone to take extra care when visiting the beach as you may become obscured by fog very quickly.

🚤 1 Year On – And We’re 68% There 🚤

One year ago, we launched our appeal to fund a new rescue boat for Folkestone.

Since then, the support from our community, local organisations, and generous donors has been incredible. Because of you, we’ve now reached 68% of our goal.

But we’re not quite there yet.

As we head into the 2026 season, we’re now focused on that final push, closing the gap and getting this boat operational for the community that relies on it.

If you’ve supported us so far, thank you. If you’ve shared a post, donated, or cheered us on, you’ve helped get us this far.

And if you’re able to support us now, you’ll be helping take us across the finish line.

🚤 Help Us Close the Gap 🚤

We’re getting closer to our goal of funding a new rescue boat for Folkestone and the support so far has been incredible. 🥳

Every donation, share, and message of support has helped push this campaign forward. Now we’re into the final stretch.

With the 2026 season approaching, we’re focused on closing the gap and making this new boat a reality for our crew and community.

If you’ve been thinking about supporting us, now is the perfect time to get involved. Even a small contribution helps move us one step closer.
