MAF has been responding to the Ebola outbreak in eastern DRC since it was declared on 15 May 2026.

The charity has conducted numerous flights to and from Bunia in Ituri Province where some 1,000 cases have been reported, and at least 220 people have died (source: BBC).

MAF has been transporting hazmat suits, a multi-agency crisis team, and evacuating people to Uganda who have been affected by this deadly disease: https://f.mtr.cool/afpsibkiud

Bougainville’s leaders thank MAF Papua New Guinea for their 3-week disaster response campaign which wrapped earlier this month.

From 11 April to 1 May, MAF carried out a total of 77 flights transporting nearly 300 passengers and 17 tonnes of aid in the wake of Cyclone Maila: https://f.mtr.cool/ojkmopsobh

Kearnneth Nanei, Bougainville’s State of Emergency Controller (hi vis vest) says: ‘MAF came on board to support us during this critical need, and we are very grateful for the partnership.’

United Church Bishop, Rev Abraham Toroi (flowery shirt) says: ‘MAF came and flew relief, food and supplies to central places where it was distributed to various communities. Thank you MAF.’
