Looking for a way to support InFocus and the young people we support with vision impairment and other needs?

You can sign up to our charity lottery!

How it works:

• You must be 18+ and live in Great Britain
• Tickets cost £1 per week. Pay by Direct Debit and you won’t miss a draw
• You could win up to £25,000, with runner-up prizes of £1,000 and £25 each week
• For every £1 played, at least 50p comes back to InFocus
• The remaining 50p goes towards prizes and administration costs

👏 Huge congratulations to our Learning Support Worker, Antony Clark, who completed the Glasgow to Edinburgh Ultra Marathon last weekend, running an incredible 57 miles to raise funds for InFocus!

Ant completed the challenge in an impressive 13 hours and 12 minutes, almost two hours faster than his previous time.

Speaking about the experience, Ant said: “It went really well. At 27 miles, I felt really tired, but I pushed through and kept going. Some people came over to say, ‘Hi, are you okay?’ and got talking to me, which helped me get going again! In 2023, it rained non-stop and I finished in 15 hours, so I was really pleased to beat that time. I came in the top 60!”

What an outstanding achievement. We’re incredibly proud of you, Ant! 💙🏃‍♂️🏅

Do you want a rewarding role where you can make a real difference to the lives of young people with vision impairment and complex needs?

We're looking for a Learning Support Worker to join our team in Exeter.

✅ Term-time only (38 weeks per year)
✅ Full-time and part-time opportunities available (45 or 36.25 hours per week)
✅ Salary up to £27,351.75 (actual salary, depending on role and hours)
✅ Support young adults to develop independence, confidence and life skills

🚆 Students from InFocus College recently took part in a ‘Try a Train’ event with GWR at Exeter St David's, with a little help from the lovely Rupee the dog! 🐾

The team guided students through everything involved in catching a train to Plymouth, from buying a ticket and asking for assistance to using the ticket barriers and safely getting on and off the train.

It was a great opportunity to practise new skills, build confidence and explore how to travel more independently.

A big thank you to GWR and the Try a Train team for helping make rail travel more accessible and supporting our students to feel more confident about future journeys. 💚

It was a pleasure for our Head of Reach, Matthew, and VI Advocate Jacob to join a recent meeting of Devon County Council's Highways Team, sharing the real-life challenges people with vision impairment can face around street works.

Through presentations and practical activities, attendees gained valuable insight into creating safer, more accessible environments. One participant described the session as "invaluable", saying it helped them better understand the considerations needed to make street works safer for people with vision impairment.

Thank you to everyone involved for their enthusiasm and commitment to learning and improving accessibility for all. 💙
