Farms for City Children exists to remove the barriers that prevent children and young people having meaningful access to the natural world. During an immersive five-day residential stay on one of our stunning heritage farms in Devon, Gloucestershire and Pembrokeshire, children and young people participate in seasonal farming tasks alongside experienced farm teams and partner Farmers.

Twenty years of fundraising. Fifty years of muck 🐮and magic ✨.

Tracy joined Farms for City Children in 2006 as our first dedicated fundraiser, working from a bedroom in a cottage at Nethercott House.

Since then, she has seen generosity take many forms: regular donations, legacies, grants, fundraising challenges, volunteering and practical skills from bee keeping to art sessions freely shared.

As Tracy says: “Every relationship matters. All donations are powerful.”

That support has helped care for our farms, animals and heritage buildings. Above all, it has helped more children and young people discover what they are capable of during a week on the farm.

Today we're proud to support – the UK's biggest digital celebration of farming. 🌱🚜🐮

At Farms for City Children, we've been helping children and young people discover the value of farming through immersive, hands-on residentials for 50 years. Over that time, we're proud to have introduced more than 100,000 children and young people to life on the farm, helping them understand where their food comes from, how it's produced, and why farming matters.

We're hugely grateful to the farmers, supporters and our surrounding communities who have made this work possible. 💚

Fifty years on, our mission remains as important as ever. We want to ensure that every child has the opportunity to experience farming first-hand and develop a lifelong appreciation for the people, places and processes that put food on our tables.

Beetroot can be found in an array of colours on our farms at this time of year. A firm favourite with visiting young people, it can be harvested during morning sessions and enjoyed fresh on their plates at lunchtime!

It's a really versatile ingredient, adding earthy flavour to many dishes – even chocolate cake!

Meet some new arrivals at Wick Court🐮🐮🐮.

Three Gloucester calves have joined the herd this year, continuing a story that has been part of the farm for generations.

Gloucester cattle are one of Britain’s oldest and rarest native breeds and Wick Court played an important role in helping them survive. By the early 1950s, its herd was one of only a small number remaining.

The cattle also have a rather tasty connection to local history. For more than 40 years, milk from Gloucester cows at Wick Court was sent to the Cadbury factory at Frampton 🍫.

Today, children visiting the farm can meet these distinctive cattle, help care for them and discover why protecting rare breeds matters.

We've got a fantastic, full-time opportunity to join the wonderful team at our beautiful Pembrokeshire farm, Lower Treginnis.

This Farm School Leader role combines practical livestock management with delivering engaging, knowledge-rich learning sessions for visiting children. We're looking for someone with livestock experience, a commitment to excellent animal welfare and a passion for helping young people connect with farming and the countryside.
