Exeter Sands Sands is an organisation which can offer you support when a baby dies during pregnancy or after birth The death of a baby is a devastating experience.

Exeter Sands is a group that provides support anyone affected by the death of a baby in the Exeter and surrounding areas, it is run by a small group of us who have lost babies of our own. The effects of grief can be overwhelming and parents, their families and friends can be left feeling dazed, disorientated, isolated and exhausted. It can be hard to take in information, to make decisions or to imagine how you are going to cope. At Sands there are people who understand what it's like because many of us have been through this experience ourselves, and we are here to help offer support and information when you need it. Meetings are currently being held on the second Wednesday of the month 7 til 9 pm. Please contact the group if you are thinking of attending, as due to the small nature of our group occasional changes have to be made to the location or timings of the meetings.

A gentle reminder that this evening is Wave of light. 🕯️🩷🩵

At 7pm local time, all around the world, we light a candle and let it burn for at least one hour.
As each time zone reaches 7pm, a continuous 24-hour wave of light travels around the world. 🌍

It honours our babies who died too soon from miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death, SIDS, or infant loss, and reminds bereaved families that they are not alone. 💜🧡

This marks the end of baby loss awareness week in a beautiful and meaningful way.

Today is the start of Baby Loss Awareness week 2026.

Our ribbon display is up on the blue footbridge on the quay in Exeter and will remain up until the 18th of October.

We have left some blank ribbons on our display for anyone who would like to add their baby’s name.

‘Remember Our Child’

A special service for parents and families who have suffered the loss of a child (young or old) and those who have suffered the loss of a baby through stillbirth, neonatal death or miscarriage is taking place on Sunday 18th October at St. Gregory’s Church in Seaton, Devon at 4pm.

Everyone including families are very warmly invited to this service whether you come to church regularly or have never been before.

If you would like a name of a child read out to be remembered during this service (even if you cannot attend) or would like more information please use the contact information on the poster. At the end of the service there will be an opportunity for candles to be lit in memory of loved ones.
