Hi everyone,

Please join us for our daring Christmas social event at Boom Battle Bar (in Exeter at 18:00 on 13/12/2023)!

The evening consists of a one hour axe throwing event, that should keep you on your toes and bring your competitive side out. Oh, and remember… no alcohol before or during this experience, you need to wear closed toe shoes and no heels/sandals, and if you’re lucky enough to have long hair we need you to tie that back. We’re all about the fun but like safety too.

The evening will be followed by drinks after, with the committee funding one alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink.

This is a great opportunity to socialise with other students in a fun and exiting way.

If you’re interested please sign up using the link below.

Rosauro Aala was seconded to a client on his second day in his job as an accounting trainee. Once qualified, he was seconded to another client to fulfil the role of financial controller, while the existing person took maternity leave.

He went on to further secondments in the Middle East, Kazakhstan and South Africa. Each secondment had its challenges, which helped him to be more resilient and cope with problems when back to his normal job.

This is an opportunity to find out about coping mechanisms and how to prepare for the unexpected.

The event will consist of a talk from Rosauro Aala, followed by a Question and Answer session.

The event will be an informal webinar. Please click the link below to register to attend. This is an online event and it is open to everyone.

Career development often means that you’ll face experiences that your past experience won’t necessarily prepare you for. This can be daunting and may put you off volunteering to do new things.

Calling all ICAEW ACA students – we wish you all well for the upcoming Advanced Level exams! Remember, ICAEW will do everything they can to support you, especially if your exam experience doesn't go to plan.

Things may not run smoothly on the day, therefore if you have any issues, we advise you follow these steps. The most important of which is to contact ICAEW Student Support which you can do either online or by phone:

icaew.com/aca or +44 (0)1908 248 250

If you are sitting your exam within an exam centre, please ensure you let your invigilator know if something isn’t quite right. If you are sitting via remote invigilation, the chat function is there to support you. If they’re unable to resolve the issue, you may be asked to contact the ICAEW Student Support team directly during your exam.

If required, you can apply for special consideration via the form on the ICAEW website. Don’t forget there is also the exam survey to provide any feedback on the exam experience.

Good luck, sleep well and stay hydrated.

Access student resources, FAQs and online applications.

Wrap up warm and meet at (where else) the bar tent for 6pm where you'll chat to fellow ICAEW members over a mulled w**e (mulled c***r also becoming more popular!).

You can use the informal event to make new friends, connections on socials, or simply to ask questions about anything ICAEW!

We will socialise and enjoy the sights of the Christmas lights, listen to the choir music and induldge in the amazing options they have for street food! We will cover the cost of two beverages per person.

We look forward to seeing you!

The event is open to all ACA students and ICAEW members up to 5 years post qualified.
