Thank you to local residents who have recently donated pots, sleepers and arid grasses to enable me to create a further 2 areas for foster tortoises 🐢

This week we've got 3 going out to new homes from us, with the overall tally tracked by The Norfolk Tortoise Club at 103 tortoises rehomed this year (and counting!).

Sadly there are still many more tortoises needing homes, than good households coming forward to take them on 🏠

Due to the time of year we are winding down our rehoming service, but if you are fully setup with an indoor/ heated enclosure AND have a fridge or garage ready for a short hibernation you can still apply on the rehoming page Www.tortoiseclub.org 🍁🍂

Think you've lost your tortoise? Think again!

Excellent masters of disguise and survival.

On an important note - we'd strongly advise bringing your tortoises inside overnight from now on (and only out at 15C+). Get your heat lamps on now to keep extending the Summer season - replicating the seasons they would have in the wild.

The 2027 A4 charity tortoise calendar is now in stock. There is a healthcare tip or tortoise fact on every month, with a w**d feeding guide on the back. £10 each with every penny made going back into to the rescue charity.

Particularly proud of this years design, as it features many of the foster tortoises I've personally helped with. Its also printed locally in Cambs 💚

It is on the The Norfolk Tortoise Club eBay shop for those needing postage (see link in comments).

Metabolic bone disease - rickets

Ever prevalent in our surrendered tortoises yet totally preventative! Here's how:

Natural sunshine, calcium (limestone flour and nutrobal), wild food (w**ds). Short, 10 week hibernations.

⬆️ Most of this is DIRT CHEAP to do. When its not followed the consequences are permanent to the tortoise.
Yes we can soften the impact, and yes they adapt, but the physical issue's will always be obvious.

Do you keep Sulcatas?

Very difficult to find good quality setup pictures of insulated, heated, fully equipt outbuildings for adults 80kg+. Please share your examples for our care guides.
