Thank you all so much for bearing with us this week as we ramp up our efforts to promote our annual fundraiser THIS FRIDAY 💚. We are well aware that we are a model railway shop and most of you are here for the trains and our wacky sense of humour (we are still doing that too !) but we are also a family full of love. Long term and regular followers, family and friends will all know why this week is important to us.Many of you will have met Our Mark and known of the wonderful man he was. We sadly lost Mark to cancer in 2021, he was 57. We know our loss is not unique and that so many of you have been affected by this cruel disease. Our fundraiser is our way of giving back. We were blessed, Mark was wonderful and our family and friends so supportive, we also know not everyone has this network around them and need Macmillan Cancer Support . We are fortunate enough to be able to host a fantastic coffee morning event, with fabulous cakes and a great raffle ( supported by our suppliers). Our event is not a sad day its a fun day ,eating cakes with friends, socialising and raising lots of much needed funds. Come along Friday if you can,if you can't give us a ring to get some raffle tickets or make a telephone donation. We have our reasons, we know you have yours 💚
Come eat cake with us because trains, cakes and family time go hand in hand. Thank you for your continued support 🙏

Terrible news tonight. Thoughts with those injured. How could this happen on a modern railway. 🙁

News is still emerging following the incident between Luton and Bedford that has brought all lines to a stand.

For now, we’re simply hoping everyone involved is safe and receiving the support they need.

SHGP Media has started uploading a few good videos to his YouTube Channel recently, all edited from clips taken at our Ely & District MRC Sat 16th May 2026 Exhibition. Note: Our 2027 Exhibition will be on Sat 15th May - we are always the third Saturday in May. Save the date!

UPDATED: Thank you to everyone who came to our exhibition on Sat 16th May 2026.

The adult public vote for Best Layout was won by Bottom of the Barrel. Congratulations on receiving the Malcolm Hine Memorial Tankard! Very well deserved.

The pictures show how unique this lovely little layout is and it would have certainly made dear Malcolm smile as he sure liked his ale! 😎

The (very close!) runner up was Braughing and Stanton. Central Works came third.

In the children’s vote it was a very close run thing too. Donnersbachkogel got a lot of votes but in the end Bottom of the Barrel was the winner.

Shows going well so far. One layout seems to have a wiring problem - but we hope they can sort that out soon. 🤞
