Perfection is in the details!

One of our wonderful customers recently chose a ROOMFUL of furniture and homeware from us to furnish their home, and the result is so inviting and full of personality!

We love the details from the natural materials of the wooden coffee table to the pop of accent colour, drawing together the rug and the cushions. Those denim blue sofas are the perfect proportions too.

Many people may not realise, but we are the place to buy or donate preloved mattresses in Edinburgh.

Every year, thousands of perfectly good mattresses end up in landfill.

However, we can take donations of second-hand mattresses which are in good, usable condition. Then, we find them a new home after they have gone through our mattress care process.

Mattresses are then checked, professionally cleaned and then either re-sold in store to generate funds for our homeless services, provided to our partner housing authorities or our own supported accommodation.

Examples of brands: Tempur, IKEA, Silent Night, Simba, John Lewis, Dreams

We can collect if you are unable to drop off. Check our criteria below then get in touch to arrange.

💔 UNJUSTLY OVERLOOKED: Meet Raspberry the Armchair 💔

Status: Available now (and we can’t figure out why everyone is walking past it!)

This incredibly cosy armchair has been sitting quietly in our store for weeks. Honestly, we are baffled as to why it hasn't been snapped up yet. It did have a pal who has now been rehomed... leaving Raspberry all on their lonesome.

It is VERY comfy, upholstered in a gorgeous, soft dusty raspberry velour, it features a plush button-tufted back, elegant scroll arms, and a classic traditional skirt.

Great overall condition.

You just know it when you see it!

These lovely customers, sisters Corina and Diana from Italy, came to Edinburgh Furniture Initiative to find budget friendly pieces to furnish their new flat. They found this fabulous butchers block style kitchen table and have a sofa being delivered soon!

A: We found you through ChatGPT! We wanted to use thrift stores and yours was top of the list!

Q: Did anything surprise you about EFI?
A: It’s so huge! There is so much choice.

Q: Any tips for people shopping for second-hand furniture?
A: Come with your style and colour schemes in mind but be ready to be flexible. Also, be quick! Last time we saw a futon and went away to think about it. When we came back it was gone!
